I haven't seen it expressed yet either, hence the "next" ☺
I don't see the slippery slope. Derbies in Hay Day and real life have top three finishers who get rewards. 'Twas ever thus.
I seriously doubt that giving smaller NHs equality of opportunity in horseshoes will progress to a clamor for equal prizes across all placing. If anyone had a beef with top 3 extra rewards, they'd have aired it out here by now, don't you think?
I see this as a process and fairness issue - where the process is designed to prevent NHs of 1-4 people from reaching thresholds, and the discussion is, is that process fair?

Apologies if I'm plowing old ground here...I confess to having missed a few posts in the middle of this thread.
Not that it is a major point, but the dividing line between the haves/have nots is 3 and 4. I can vouch for the fact that having 4 members participating in the Derby allows my NH to reach all the horseshoe posts--and it can be done without spending diamonds. The ninth post requires 11,000 points which for 4 farmers can be done with 9 tasks each at an average of 306 points. We only buy the 10th task if it looks like we have a shot at a trophy or if one of us messes up (accidental trashed/expired task).
In my opinion, we aren't fretting over the trophy prizes because they are really nothing "special." For quite a while, there were threads suggesting that the trophy prizes be more fitting of the effort (not to mention diamonds) expended by the winning NHs. The fact that we haven't been seeing those threads lately doesn't mean we wouldn't still like special trophy prizes--I think it's just that we have all given up on that.
It seems to me that the deco options are the problem. If it weren't for those, I'm not sure we'd even be discussing this. I long ago resigned myself to not having the Derby decor that I would have liked because the hassle of the Derby wasn't worth it to me--especially since my little white wagon with blue forget-me-nots went on sale in the shop and I was able to buy one. I opted out for over a year until the permits. I don't expect to get any decos. I would be gobsmacked if I actually got one that I wanted. I still think that the solution is a Derby Gift Catalogue with special coupons that appear in the prize columns as a choice at levels available to all size NHs. Those who want decos can choose the coupons and save up for the deco of their dreams. Those that don't can ignore them!![]()

Thanks for bringing this up Jess. I wrote in a couple of weeks back, being new to derby, asking if I'd ever be able to gain a horse jump to decorate my horses field, and kindly received some advice back. No - really seemed to be the answer, but I lived in hope. I am a solo player (busy life and all that, who wants some well earned peace and quite and to get this I escape to my farm). I didn't join the derby when it first came out because I thought solo players couldn't. I made a NH to take part because of the permits. I'm not solo to cheat and whizz through all tasks. I can't stack the board because I don't have that many diamonds to spare, but I don't mind if others do. I get finished sometimes just right on time and used to think why am I getting so stressed, this is supposed to be fun. The thought of that horse jump or water trough kept me focussed. Then I found out they will never be mine - I was down hearted, because although I've only myself to organise, I still put in a lot of effort in completing my tasks. Waiting the 25 mins or so for the board to refresh, trashing, waiting for better points to appear is an endless struggle for me - but I have to keep going for the chance of a permit. I need permits to open the land like everyone else. I have been hoping for ages for Supercell to expand the land on the other side of the road, to balance my farm out and am not fussed about the deco within. (I've just sent a mauve tree to the shop.) If I want to open this land, I have to keep derbying. This is fine, I don't mind participating because of it as it's given me a different element to the game, but why should I only be able to reach level 4? Why shouldn't the prize threshold be staggered to represent the numbers participating in your derby - as suggested by some in this thread? I shouldn't have to be forced to join a larger NH to possibly get a horse jump as a reward, when playing solo is my only escape from the real world, if that makes sense. If little hoods were able to get decorations based on their sizes than that would be fantastic - otherwise it's like telling a child don't try, because you'll never achieve. In my opinion that wouldn't be taking anything away from the larger NH - just making it fairer to us little ones who have our own different derby woes to contend with. If structured properly it would work fine. All I want is that little horse jump to keep my horses happy in their field - why should a larger NH's object to that?
*MiniDibs*. As you know, I'm all for the Derby Catalogue 😊 we need to continue to add to that thread to keep it live.
However, that doesn't really address the issue of smaller NH's not getting all of the Horseshoes because if it's as it is now, we'd get fewer points every week. The 'fairness' point isn't addressed. I'd do 10x320 tasks and get 4 points, someone in an NH of 30 would do 9x285 points (say) and get 9 points.
I've resisted ✅ practically every post as it would be WAY too long 😱, but it's difficult because I'd love to agree/disagree with so many things people have said, but I'll try to generalise my thoughts instead.
Larger Hoods dismantling: I really don't think they would, people choose to play in the NH size they prefer. However, even if I'm wrong and loads of NH's dismantle, so what? Who does that affect? No one except the individual concerned and if they're happier playing solo why wouldn't you want that for them? How does it affect anyone else?
Just play in a bigger hood: I, and many others, don't want to. Some people have all kinds of social phobias or other MH issues that make that very stressful or even totally impossible. I, & many others, just want to play solo for other perfectly valid reasons. Hay Day didn't start as a Team Game, it started as a solo game (as other have explained). It's not like CoC at all.
Solo Derby Easy: It's not. It's DIFFERENT. For reasons already explained. Last Derby I trashed over 800 tasks to get my board set up, how many players in a large NH have to spend that much time trashing the board? Playing to the board changes your whole game for days, taking tasks as they come up, much less so. I could reiterate all the reasons again, but I'm sure anyone genuinely interested in the debate doesn't need me to and it probably wouldn't change the minds of those posting glib comments.
Bigger NH Harder: It's HARDER for the Leader (GOOD Co-Leaders) but not the general team members. Again, it's just DIFFERENT.
Individual players: Why should individual members (excluding the Leader) get better rewarded than solo players? It requires no more (possibly less) effort to do 9x285 tasks and yet they win all 9 Horseshoes, but doing 10x320 tasks gets us 4. Same with Top 3 placing.
Hay Day started off as a nice little farming game that you could play on your own, in your own way, no hassles to play 'The Right Way'. Calm & not at all competitive. IMO The NH's changed the game and not for the better & the Derby totally ruined the feel of HD, especially when the Leagues were introduced. Of course you don't have to be in an NH or play the Derby, but that doesn't undo the impact of the Derby on the whole feel of the game. I don't know where SC is going with it, but with each step we are less and less able to get equal enjoyment out of playing the game our own way & not complying with their desire to have us all playing the Derby in larger NH's. A greater divide of the 'haves & have nots'. No nice horse Deco & look at the Permits (2 pw for those who conform) & Boosters (2 pw for conformers). It's a shame really that they chose not to maintain the game as it was originally designed 'Equal opportunities for everyone & no 'right way' to play'.
An equal opportunity to earn pixelated Deco, whilst choosing to play solo/small NH, really isn't a huge ask.
