I use to play my third farm in a one man team a won 30 Derby GOLD Cup in a seire , relatively easy most teams ,
As team team leader in Lyngby Farmers I think I have to use 3-4 times as much time then I hade to do in the one man team ,
Lyngby Farmers is a very good team so get in top 3 almost every week ! but we "only " get 2 GOLD CUPs in 3 Derbys ,

    Have a few questions
    1) If we get same prices in big and why that much more job and play in a big team ?
    2) Is it fairly that I for doing more job , get minor prices the I get if leave the team ?
    3) how many team leader will leave their teams ?
    4) how many team leaders will forbid the players in ther teams to play the Derby ?
    5) how many team leaders will cast out the players from ther teams and one man teams ?

AND HOW BIG WILL THE flood off complain and whinening be !

I have only read a few pages of this thread and I have to say that it has been an interesting read. When I first opened the thread I had the opinion that being in a small NH or not being in a NH was the players choice and part of that choice/decision was knowing they would be sacrificing some rewards. However, it has been really interesting to read other people's perspective on things. For instance, I never considered the implications of some players mental health that makes it impossible for them to be in a NH. Needless to say, my opinion has changed.

At the end of the day, people have different reasons for not wanting to be in a NH or for wanting to be in a small or large NH. Neither option is better or worse, harder or easier....it's just different with their own set of challenges. I don't think this choice should impact on any other player and every player should have the ability to make the best choice for themselves without being penalised for doing so.

It would seem to me (perhaps naively), that it wouldn't be that difficult to do a sliding scale for rewards based on number of players opted in. I think the difficulty for obtaining 9 horseshoes should be the same for all. If every player in a large NH require 300 points per task x 9 taks to get all horseshoes, then that is the requirement for a solo neighbourhood (or 250 or whatever the final number is). If that system was introduced I don't see how anyone would be at a disadvantage. I understand that there are challenges in completing some tasks as a solo NH. Likewise there are challenges in completing all tasks as a large NH. I play a solo NH farm on my phone and a large NH farm on my IPad. Again, my view is that neither is harder than the other....just a different set of challenges.

I just hope that a balance can be found to make the game enjoyable for all.

I'm glad this thread has been resurrected to discuss the puzzle piece issue. I still support equal rights to horseshoe prizes for small hoods.

Frisco: is there any movement on addressing this issue at SC?

Hi again, I responded to this thread when it started bemoaning my woes of non deco and that there's only four columns achievable for solo players.

I'm really pleased to see that SC must have made some tweaks this week to the Derby prizes, because I have that much longed for Horse Jump in Column 3 along with a Puzzle Piece and a Horse Shoe Trophy. Am definitely grabbing the horse jump this time and will be keeping my fingers crossed for a puzzle piece come next Derby.

To me this shows SC have been listening to all of us here and it might just take a little bit of time to make it perfect for everyone, but it's a good start.

SC - my horses would just like to say a great big Thank You - neigh!

I have always thought HayDay mostly fair in that usually the game demands the same from you regardless of how you play. While it doesn't force you to play a particular way, there are consequences of your choices. For example, you don't have to buy a dairy, but you'll still get orders for those products (or products that use them). No, you don't have to play the town, but you'll get fewer tools. You don't have to do boats, but you'll get fewer vouchers for pets and fishing. Or back to my dairy example: you could demand your neighbors supply you with cheese and throw a tantrum when they don't, but you might also get evicted a few times until you find a neighborhood that caters to that style.

Just like orders from visitors/trucks/boats/townies encourage you to own and operate that dairy, the permits and puzzle pieces encourage you to participate in large neighborhood derbies. I think it would be completely consistent with the overall design of the games if the horseshoe points had been placed at the same point level regardless of neighborhood population, creating an environment where a NH of size 1 couldn't even reach the first horseshoe. And that would have been "fair" in the sense that you can still make your own choices, it would have been fair in that the rules were applied the same way to everybody, just like most everything else in the game. No, I'm not suggesting that I want them to do that, just pointing out that small neighborhoods are already being "thrown a bone".

As for permits and puzzle pieces: I'm not fond of them appearing only in specific columns. I think all potential rewards should have an ability to appear anywhere. I do not think, however, that all rewards should have equal chances of popping up: if permits appear only 20% as often as, say, tape, then so be it.

I support the OP's post 100%. Solo player here.

I will say though that this derby I have a puzzle piece in the third column. Of course I don't have a permit in the fourth column now. So I'm laughing not laughing. What can I say? I still really enjoy the game.

(Had to edit. Number of puzzle column was off and there isn't a permit where one usually appears)

I was recently forwarded to this thread. I had recently posted that it was not fair to be working in a derby and not be able to get all the horseshoes. I completed 10 tasks at 400 points each and the other member of my neighborhood to opt in also completed all tasks and we could not reach the higher horseshoe threshold. When I sought help through "Support", I was told by Farmer Jo that it was to encourage more participation. My thought is that this policy DIScourages participation. Some of my neighbors can not participate because of various reasons of their own. I do not fault them and I won't leave them. They are my friends and helpers. But why should I even want to do the derby, if I can't get all the rewards that other derby player get for the same work. Supercell needs to rethink this policy.

Thank you for reviving this thread. I forgot what Frisco wrote about why they created the Derby. Please see post #99 below.

It's interesting to read what he said about small neighborhoods. Notice he didn't comment about those who derby by themselves. I wonder if the game discourages solo derbyists and encourage them to coalesce into neighborhoods.
