No worries Sue. I don't get offended easily. I was surprised to get the reactions I got though...it was a complete 180 from what I was expecting.

About the name calling...I don't understand why it's not ok. It's not like I'm going to call this farm out every single time in a post. It's a one time thing. It's one thing to name and shame a fellow forum member but I guarantee this person is not on the forum. Would it be any different if I had called out a farm named "please help my boat!" or "follow me!" instead? It could be anyone. That being said, naming and shaming isn't my M.O. Some of u were overreacting...apologies if anyone were offended

    I'm certainly not that "petty".

Despite the privacy issue and possible misinterpretation of buying behaviour, as I have repeatedly mentioned before, the avatar displays are causing me serious headaches very quickly.

Reason why: I have a photographic memory.

    This is my routine:

After having gone thru all neighbouring shops, I can remember where I saw what - while having bought only that what for sure will be asked in the needed help section. I then go thru all help requests and fill as many crates as I can - and I take info in, what else is needed.

As I still remember, where I had seen what, I rush back to those shops, preferably the shops which had several needed items on offer so that shopping is faster. After buying them, I fill more crates, still remembering who needs what.

When new help requests pop up, I still remember where I had seen what and so it continues. As shops get sold out or offer changes naturally, I repeat the shopping tour thru all neighboring shops many times a day.

I have more than 500 friends - maybe you can imagine what it means for the brain when sooooooo much redundant information is popping into my eyes. SOLD! (no need to learn) Image (colours, shapes and most of them full of redundant sub-info too) Name (often several words), Price, and all on less than 2 square centimeters. Just tens of thousands of redundant information flooding my brain. Maybe hundreds of thousands, too much information anyway.

It would be interesting to hear the opinion of a neuro-biologist regarding this information overflow, it is not only me who points out that the brain is having problems with this feature. I might be an extreme case but it IS a flood of redundant information.

    And a very personal opinion:

My impression is that people who take the time to read, really READ all this information do not fill many crates. If your interest is to help your neighbours, you concentrate on finding the items and have no time to think about Mary having bought too much cow feed at John's shop. Honest. And then she also bought cow feed at Rosie's oh my gosh!

    Lol.

Anyway, since it is really hard for me to shop with information overflow headaches, I may now appear like a raider. Going to less shops but buying many more items from those. At the end, I can still help a lot of ppl to fill their boats and that is what counts for me. Some may kick me off friend list but that is fine with me.

    Cheers,
    Carmen

See, that is an example of selfish senseless raiding imo.

I don't know what level your neighbor is at but, perhaps, she's stocking up because they ARE so rare to find, preparing for her TT3, or sharing them with a friend or family member who also needs. Lots of folks buy extra stuffs and share with relatives.

I'm L52 now and the truck orders for jewelry are always for 2. I'm trying to prepare to do TT3, which will be very difficult at this high level, and now with the new products available, I have to postpone again. Anyway, having to fill 30 orders in 30 minutes and not knowing how many will be duplicates for diamond rings at 2 a pop, I decided 10 should cover all my bases. I ended up buying 12 from the same shop (one stack was for 2 and the other didn't have 8 but 10, which I wasn't about to pass up just because it had 2 more than I needed). Getting 5 duplicate orders out of the 30 may be unlikely but I get 3 and 4 duplicate orders on the board for jewelery all at the same time right now so it's not that unlikely.

Also, you said it yourself, you usually don't have an issue with this neighbor overbuying so I think she must have a reason for doing it now, so you really can't say that she's "an example of selfish senseless raiding". Buying lots of something you have need of once in a while is not raiding. On those rare times you come across someone selling several bins of expansion materials that you really need, do you only buy one or a couple of bins or do you buy everything you need even if it's ALL the bins? Do you consider yourself a raider for doing so?

@CEMFF: You're not the only one having physical issues with the avatars. I'm getting headaches from eye strain and the sensory overload, frustration from the freezing issues and their resulting snafoos, wrist cramps from struggling with the scrolling issues, and nausea from the sensory overload.

There have been several others who've posted about headaches from the visual clutter. I appreciate that SC went through a lot of trouble to mark that a bin really did have something in it, but can't it be something less assaulting on the eyes and brain?

I'm also one of those affected by the disruption in play due to freezing and scrolling issues caused by the data stream to load them.

Please know that I actually do have an excellent sense of humor, and love to joke around. So, don't be offended by what I write.

If it were up to me, I would certainly say let's all call out the trading thieves. Call out players for flagging almost all of their sugar or cream crates, but not other crates on the same boat (a personal pet peeve). However, what offends one player might not offend another player.

I think that SC established the no naming and shaming rule because so much of game play is subjective. This is why we are free to add and delete friends, and now followers, who do things that might annoy us.

You don't know that the other player is not a forum member. (I've actually seen the player's name that you mentioned in my day to day play.) We can name our farms anything we like on Hay Day. Players only know your GC ID, if they add you in GC. Not everyone here has an avatar in GC.

Most significantly though, we shouldn't be able to make exceptions to the rules on a whim. If there is a no naming and shaming rule, then we shouldn't be able to sometimes excuse it away by saying, "Oh, but that one was in jest." (Even though I know you meant it that way.) It could subtly influence someone else, particularly with all the sensitivity people express about "raiders" on the board. Someone might see the name on this thread and think, " Someone said that guy's a raider I won't buy from him or help his boat."
Level 109. KIK me to add me as a friend. I'm always willing to help, if I'm able.

    Understood.

I now hang my head in shame,
I will not call out another name.
But understand this is only a game,
    So Farm On, I proclaim!

I dont think I am playing this game properly, seems like a lot of skullduggery that I am not involved in! Who cares who buys what in the shops or if it is considered raiding. I put my goods in the shop to be sold and could not care less who buys them, hope fully friends first but if not i am still happy to sell. If people go to Debenhams to buy things I am sure the assistants do not care who buys them, am I missing something?
back to the thread I do not like the sold avatars, makes it a bit confusing, I keep tapping on them because I think I am in my own shop! Waiting for nets, lobster pot and soup kitchen to open now , Happy Hay Days! 🐻🌞🇪🇸
I am with you! But could you explains what skulduggery and debenhams?

    Skuldugger skul-dug-ger-y:

    1. dishonorable proceedings; mean dishonesty or trickery: bribery, graft, and other such skulduggery.
    2. an instance of dishonest or deceitful behavior; trick.

I'm believe Debenhams to be the name of a popular retailer in the area Rattybear lives.

She is same level as me. I mean i usually do not have a problem with her buying things up. We share alot of neighbours and from this new update i see her name everywhere. Well she just did it again, buying up the rings. I even change my farm name to tell her to let other people have a go at it.

I really only buy what i need in terms of expansion materials. If i dont need it right then i leave it alone.

    I am currently level 51.
I dislike my store getting raided. accepting friendships but t&c applies.

thanks for the feedback, not sure though if it is good or bad news Good to know I am not the only one with physical symptoms, bad news that gaming is harming people. I am seriously considering to quit, there is no need to risk a stroke just for a game... Or otherwise have to completely change gaming strategy and not care for others anymore, not care for the achievements anymore but randomly play around a bit on my own farm.

Only, that is the exact opposite of what I loved about Hay Day! It used to be the perfect game, very social, very peaceful, still challenging, with good strategy you could achieve a lot and had your daily successes to enjoy.

Now it changed. It harms physical health and I find this spying, policing and controlling by others mentally harmful as well. The entire character of the game has changed, being social has become difficult, the fishing features take for ever and so challenges just become put-offs.

SC had done such a great job for the past year, now they went far over the top, I am very sad about that. Have googled if there may havebeen a change in management or so but I cannot find a reason why they turned everything upside down, suddenly.

Freezing issues and glitches, ok, ♥♥♥♥ happens all the time, these are just tech probs which can be fixed. But they changed the entire philosophy and character of the game and this is what I wonder about. Anyway, I think I'll take a rest until the next update, my health is far more important than a game.

    Cheers,

    Carmen

I love this game. Im so addicted to this right now its beyond ridiculous. And i have posted twice about how this game is affecting me but nobody responded. I dont know how else to make SC takes me seriously. Incld a xray scan of my skull maybe?

My main gripe is about Tom. Theres a love hate relationship going on between me and him. Im so dependent on him to run boat orders, but that waiting for 2 hrs in between and trying to maximise his uptime because he cost diamonds takes its toll sometime.

i had a brain surgery and a result of that was i have 2 holes drilled into the frontal part of my skull just right above my temples on each side near my hairline. The holes are abt 1 inch in diameter each. Side effect, i get headaches alot ranging from mild to migraine real easily esp with lack of rest. Alarm every 2 hrs to wake up for Tom really makes me kind of sick i had been using him for 2 days then rest 1 day.

So i totally understand what you are going through, this game can be quite debilitating but yet you cant stop. I been playing another game consistently for 7 years and even that game does not makes me feel awful like this.

    I am currently level 51.
