I'd personally probably enclose my gold supplies rather than the mortars. Anything to slow down the goblins. I'd probably also swap my clan castle with that cannon next to it. No reason a cannon needs to be so central. I'm not a fan of giant bombs because of the cost, but that's probably dealer's choice.

Run it for a while though and see how it does.
Good advice, on the line of what I had in mind, the clan castle with the cannon was advice from someone else. I originally had it the way you describe. As for the gold supplies I feel like they're safer where they are, the wizard tower covers it well enough to stop goblins.

The big bombs are there because I had extra gold and no builders, I'm getting good farm lately. The idea of the base is to make the sides hard to attack so the archer towers can do what they do best and support and the wizard towers can protect my resources.

EDIT: Idea, maybe swap the wizard towers with the gold supplies?

I would on any given day prefer my splash to be more central, but I may just let it roll like this for a bit and see how it works out and study my replays when people attack. If anything I would for sure put my elixir to the edges and pull my wiz towers back to the center because like you said it always seems I have a ton of elixir stored up, and I would rather see it go instead of my gold.
What about putting the mortar on the left in the middle and putting the cc in one of the storage spots?

    TH 8 Farming Base

Can anyone link me a overall pretty solid TH 8 farming base? Been looking through the forums, but I can't decide.
    Would be greatly appreciated.

Can somebody please help critique my base or have any comments on how I can improve it?

This is far and away the most interesting base design I've seen recently:

Aesthetically it's a spider or some kind of bug with a large body. It has interesting strips (although they sacrifice a bit much for aesthetics). It has decent segmentation. I'm pretty sure that's a rudimentary maze at the bottom. I'm in love.

I sort of thought this would own me.

But I had to attack it.

Ended up doing better than I expected.

Akusan -- can't read the clan name -- if you are the author of this design, I salute you. I'm going to set it up when I get a chance to see how it plays against a general population.
With apologies, I don't give out my Gamecenter ID or respond to PM solicitations to do base design critiques.

Yeah, I was really struck by the aesthetics, but as I look at it more I can't tell how much is pure aesthetics as opposed to having any raiding purpose particularly in the strips around the head. It does seem to be a dual purpose trophy/farming design. Some obvious similarities to Moe's beetle. I'll have to explore modifying it a bit if I do use it.
