I'm not sure you can really class balloon/minion raiding as farming as you pretty much have to go all-in every time. For me, farming is about return on investment so most of my raids are on collectors with only 20% going all in where the loot is worth it. So for this sort of farming you need an army that can do both effectively. I use:
14 giants
6 hogs
2 healers
8 wbs
48 archers
16 gobs
12 barbs

When collector raiding, I only use some tier 1 troops and a few giants as shields. I hardly ever use spells other than a lightning on clan troops on big raids. I raid at 1800 and do 6-8m gold net each day, depending on real-life distractions!

It's true they almost never fail, but not for farming as they are too expensive

I used similar build to get to master except 30 balloons 30 minions yesterday with that army made over 25kDE and 2.5mil gold after expenses

If you are farming then you have heroes.. Already and realized you need more resources.. And then u start farming..
TH unguarded.. Dropping trophies... Most of the time on shield... WRONG.
Rise up in trophies.. Higher trophy villages have a lot of loot...
balloons.. And minions... With a drag or two and heroes... Spells help a lot... Specially rage and lightning...

Farming is done at diff levels.. U need to classify yourself first to decide if this works for you.
if you already figured a good farming troops for you which works.. You would not be looking into this.. If not.. You know why you are here..
basically this farming strategy works great to upgrade your defense.. Gold and dark barracks troops or AQ and BK. Dark Elixirs.
well once you figured that out.. Then.. You are unstoppable..
Well be ready to get some bad ♥♥♥ revenge cause you can take down even the top 10 players with this strategy..
if you add one or two Golems for distraction.

The point the OP is trying to make is that the balloonion army is in fact very good for farming. I believe the confusion is to what the OP intended to farm. While I don't think anyone will disagree, that Barch is very efficient at farming for gold/elixer, it is very inefficient at farming dark elixer. For the very reason that the Barch army is designed to efficiently extract the loot from lower level bases. Any reasonable town hall 9 would destroy barch with ease, thus making in extremely inefficient to farm dark elixer from the people who actually have dark elixer to farm. Balloonion is definitely the cheapest, most efficient army to farm DE.
