I think they may have made a sensible choice by leaving them seperate for now. For a day or so anyway, while everyone is so hyped up that there is actually a boat, the amount of new threads created about the new arrival in their village is going to be crazy.

Most of my clanmates were blissfully unaware of the pending update until they opened the game this morning and saw a boat on the shore. I can imagine the forum will get a lot of new visits over the next couple of days, just from people seeing the broken boat and wondering what it's all about. So leave them seperate so they have something to see rather than just posting more 'what is this boat for' threads, remember they might not realise an update is on the way so probably wouldn't look in the sticky about the update before posting.
