    Complete Guide On Account Security

    Hi Everyone.

    In this post I will try to Explain how you can keep your account and game progress safe and if you face any issue, how you should solve it.

    I am Strongly recommending forumers to read all parts in order to understand all topics to avoid any mistake in the future and if someone need help, forumers will be able to help them.


    This is an In-Depth guide on account security trying to cover different aspects and issues/solutions. If you want to read the full post or the full post is a little confusing and you just want to be safe, in short I have to say:


    • Don't share your account information (username, password, date of creating the game, purchase history, etc.) with anyone
    • use 2-step verification on your Google Account/Apple ID
    • Connect your game to Google Account/Apple ID. Facebook will not save you.


    But I still recommending you to read the full post to have a better understanding about the topic.

    Safeguarding, Linking, Recovering (Lost/Hacked) Accounts and Safety Tips

    Part 1: Safeguarding and Linking Accounts

    Connecting your game to Facebook will not save your progress and you can't recover your game progress by Facebook. the only way to save your game progress is to connect your game to Game Center/Apple ID (on iOS devices) or Google account (On Android Devices). If you have connected your game to your Google Account or Apple ID before, you can easily load your progress by just connecting your game to the same Google Account in game settings (on Android devices) or loging to Game Center with the same Apple ID and opening the game (on iOS devices). If your game isn't connected to Google Account or Apple ID, and you lose access to your game, you need to contact support team to recover your progress which will take time (read part 2 and 3 for more info). So connect your game to Google Account (on Android devices) or Apple ID/Game Center (on iOS devices).

    Please remember, each game progress can only get connected to 1 account and each account can only be connected to 1 game progress and the connection is permanent and you can't change the connected account to your game progress (you can connect your game to 1 Apple ID and 1 Google Account at the same time but you can't connect your game progress to 2 google accounts or 2 apple ID).

    Once a game get connected to an account, even if you disconnect it, the game will still be linked to that account and all your progress will be saved automatically to it, even if it's disconnected.

    Here Is How you can Transfer your game from Android To iOS (and Vice Versa):


    • First, Make sure that the game want to transfer is connected to your account (depends on the platforms you're using, Check Android or iOS guide for it).
    • On Device A (the device you want to transfer your village from it to another device) open the game, go to the game setting and choose "Link Device"
    • Choose "this is the Old device"
    • Choose "I want to link to another device". then a code (12 characters) appear on the screen.
    • on the Device B (the device you want to add your game progress to it) open the game, go to the game setting and choose "Link Device"
    • Choose "this is the new device"
    • a small box appear, you have to enter the code that you got from device A here. then your game from your old device will be linked to your new device.


    the code you get from Device A has a timer on it and will get expired. If it get Expired, you can't use that code anymore but you can always get a new code by repeating the process.
    Please keep that in mind in order to be able to link the game to another device, on the device B, you should not progress into the game (reaching town hall 4) and you should not make any purchases for that game account, if you do it, that game will be permanently linked/connected to your account on device B and can't be replaced by another game account from device A with linking device feature. If you do that you can't link your old game to that account and you need a new fresh account and game for it on Device B.

    In order to get a fresh new game, do these steps:

    On android devices:

    • uninstall the game or Go to your device settings>apps>Clash of Clans and choose clear data (you will lose your current game progress if it's not connected to a Google Account)
    • create and add a new Google account to your device setting>accounts.
    • Install the game again
    • open the game and choose the new Google account.
    • now you can link your game progress to this new game account.


    On iOS devices:


    • Factory reset you device (that's the only way, if you don't want to lose your data, make a back up before factory reset)
    • Don't use your old apple ID, Make a new apple ID and log into game center.
    • Download the game.
    • open the game and finish toturial.
    • Now you can link your game to this new game account.
    • if you want to get your previous data, factory reset your device again.
    • Use your old apple ID and recover your data.
    • Log into game center and download the game.
    • Now in order to change your accounts and play the game progress you want, all you need to do is login to game center with the account you want to play with. After that open the game, a message will show up saying do you want to load this account? Ignore the warning, type CONFIRM and press OK


    You can only use Link Device feature once. You can Connect each game progress to 1 Google Account and 1 Apple ID but you can open the game and play each game progress only on one of these devices at the same time. Linking Device doesn't mean you will lose the connection between the game and your previous account. For example If you link your game from iOS to Android, Your account will still be linked to your Apple ID and you can still use your game on iOS Devices by logging into the game center with the same Apple ID.


    If you faced Error 102 when you tried to link your devices:

    For the link process to work, you need:
    * Both devices connected to the same network (WiFi is preferred)
    * If one is cellular only - make it a hotspot and tether the wifi one to that

    This works for most users, but due to the network structure of some ISPs, with different parts of their network registered in different countries, there may still be a mismatch. If it still doesn't work

    * Try an alternate WiFi network: Friend's home, library, a public hotspot, work, etc.

    If that still doesn't work, use the in-game support and give Support as much detail as possible and they can help with the process.

    If you want to link your game and you know your Google Account or Apple ID but you lost access to your old device (losing the device or buying new device and not having access to your old device), you can install an emulator on PC to load your game on your previous OS and then using link device function. for example if your old device was an Android Device and your new device is an iOS device and you don't have access to android device, you can install an android emulator on your PC (like bluestack), installing Clash of Clans on it, loading your game by using your Google Account and using link device function to get the code for linking Device. same process is possible if your old device was iOS but you need install an iOS emulator on your PC. this is the fastest way you can get your game back but remember don't use emulator for playing the game since it is not officially supported. you also can load your game on your friend's or family device and link your game to your new device but it will raise security concerns, so I suggest you to avoid it. if you don't want to use this method you can always contact in-game support and ask them for help but it will take few days to get your game progress back.


    The conversation between you and support team is account and device sensitive. That means only your account on your device will receive the message. So in the process of contacting support team, please don't change account or uninstall the game because you may lose the support messages and you have to Start everything from beginning. Also in case of hacked account, this will help that conversation between account owner and support team be private and hacker will not be able to see this conversation (So the conversation is safe).

    Part 2: Recovering Lost/Hacked Account

    I use the word "Hack" and "Hacker" Generally, but I don't refer to it as a fact. Hacking a Google Account or Apple ID is very hard or nearly impossible. the reason someone can get access to your account is that you give them access to it or your account security is weak, there is no Actual Hack or Hacker.


    If you have connected your game to your Google Account or Apple ID before, you can easily load your progress by just connecting your game to the same Google Account in game settings (on Android devices) or loging to Game Center with the same Apple ID and opening the game (on iOS devices).

    If you have connected your game to your Google Account or Apple ID before but you have lost or Forgot your Google Account or Apple ID, you can recover your Google Account and Apple ID By contacting Google and Apple and then loading your game progress after recovering your account, So do it. To recover your Google Account Click HERE and to recover your Apple ID click HERE.

    If you can't recover your account by contacting Google/Apple or never connected your game to your Google Account/Apple ID Or Someone stole your account , you need to Contact in-game support, contacting them is the only way to get your game progress back, so please don't share your account info with anyone except support team (Read Part 3: Safety tips for more info).

    Recovering account by contacting support team, requires ownership verification and it may take a week. in addition to this part I suggest you to please also read part 3 for more info about it.

    Also remember, If your account has been hacked, the first thing you need to do is changing your Apple ID/Google Account password and checking and updating your recovery password options, do it as soon as you can. if your account has been stolen or you forgot your password and you don't have access to it anymore, you can recover your Google Account and Apple ID By contacting Google and Apple, So do it. To recover your Google Account Click HERE and to recover your Apple ID click HERE. Also keep that in mind, if your account has been stolen, the hacker can still access your game even if you change your account password. So you still need to contact support team and ask them for help. Also if your account has been stolen, the hacker can link your game from iOS to Android (or Vise Versa), So ask support team to check your account activity about it. Also if your account has been stolen and you couldn't get back your Google Account/Apple ID, you may need to ask support team to change the account linked to your game progress, Support team will only do such a thing in special cases. please keep that in mind support team will get many request each day and they will answer them in order. it usually will take 24 hours to get your first response (may take even 2 or 3 days) so please be patient.

    if you don't want to use this method or you can't use it because you don't know your Google Acoount/Apple ID you can always contact in-game support team and ask them for help but it will take few days to get your game progress back.

Also in case of hacked account, this will help that conversation between account owner and support team be private and hacker will not be able to see this conversation (So the conversation is safe).

    Part 3: Safety tips

    As stated in Supercell Terms of Service sharing/renting/selling account is against the rules, So first, don't share any account information with your friends or anyone on the forum. Also Remember Connecting your game to Facebook will not save your progress and you can't recover your game progress by Facebook. the only way to save your game progress is to connect your game to Game Center/Apple ID (on iOS devices) or Connect your game to Google account (On Android Devices). If someone manage to hack your account or you somehow lose your account and you need to Contact in-game support team to get your progress back, they will ask few questions to verify your ownership of that game progress. the main Information they ask about is:


    • Your in game name, clan, experience level
    • city and country you started playing the game
    • devices you have played the game on
    • the month and the year you have started playing the game (having the exact date helps more)
    • the first gem purchase Receipt for that game progress if you bought any gems (can be found on your Google account / Apple ID Purchase History)



    So please keep these information somewhere safe (because you may lose access to them if you lose access to your Google Account / Apple ID) and don't share them at all. only provide them to support team when they asked these info.

    After answering these questions, the ownership verification process will take 2 days to complete. During this 2 days, your game will get banned and no one will have access to it. The reason behind this is that support team want to make sure that you are the true owner of this game. So, they will ban your game and when you open the game you'll see a message with a ticket number.

    Ticket Number
    If you ask support team to help you with something (like recovering a game progress), support team will ask few questions to verify your ownership. After that your game will get banned for 2 days and if you open the game, you'll see a message with a ticket number.
    This ticket number is a way to inform the true owner of the game progress in case of any attempt to stealing account by answering security questions I mentioned above. That means if you asked support team to recover your account and answering security questions, you don't need to be worried and you don't need to do anything with ticket number. But if you didn't asked anything from support team, and your game is banned and you're seeing a ticket number when you open the game, you need to Contact support team ASAP. in the message you're sending to support team you need to include the ticket number.

    Please keep that in mind there are few sites that claim they can give you free gems/gold. all these sites are fake. they either want you to complete a survey to verify you are a human or they will ask for your account information. Don't trust them, they WILL steal your account, don't waste your time with them. Also if you try to use 3rd party apps to cheat the system, your account will get banned permanently, watch out, the psychic octopus is watching!!!

    Enable 2-Step Verification system for your Google Account / Apple ID. This simple Task can save you from lots of trouble.

    If your haven't connected your game to your Google Account Don't uninstall the game and don't clear data of clash of Clans. If you do, you'll lose your progress and in order to take it back, you need to contact support team

    Don't delete your Google play Game Profile. If you do that, all progress and connected to your google account will be lost and you have to contact support team to recover your account

    Having Multiple Accounts on a single Device / Playing the game on Emulator

    playing the game on emulator or playing multiple accounts on a single device, as stated in the Supercell Terms of Service is not supported, however it doesn't mean you will get banned Because of it. It is not supported by Supercell, that mean if you face problems for having more than 1 account (can't switch accounts, etc) or any issue on unsupported platforms (including emulators) you may not get any official help about your issue. with that being said, if you still want to do it, it's your choice.


    If you want to create a new account and play with more than 1 account on your device
    , here is what you need to do:

    On android devices:

    On iOS devices:
    • Make sure your current game is connected to your game center/ Apple ID
    • Backup your device.
    • Factory reset you device.
    • Don't use your old apple ID, Make a new apple ID and log into game center.
    • Download the game.
    • open the game and finish the tutorial.
    • Now factory reset your device.
    • Use your old apple ID and recover your data.
    • Log into game center and download the game.
    • Now in order to change your accounts and play with the game progress you want, all you need to do is login to game center with the account you want to play with. After that open the game, a message will show up saying do you want to load this account? Ignore the warning (Assuming your current game is connected to a Google Account/Apple ID. if it's not, you will lose this game progress), type CONFIRM and press OK


    If you want to add an existing Android Clash of Clans account to your Android device:




    If you want to add an existing iOS (Apple) Clash of Clans account to your Apple device:

    • Make sure your current game is connected to your game center/ Apple ID
    • add the connected Apple ID to your existing game progress to your device.
    • Now in order to change your accounts and play with the game progress you want, all you need to do is login to game center with the account you want to play with. After that open the game, a message will show up saying do you want to load this account? Ignore the warning (Assuming your current game is connected to a Google Account/Apple ID. if it's not, you will lose this game progress), type CONFIRM and press OK.


    If your existing game is on Android Device and you want to move it to iOS device (that already has a Clash of Clans game progress on it), on your iOS device You need to:

    • Make sure your current game is connected to your game center/ Apple ID
    • Backup your device.
    • Factory reset you device.
    • Don't use your old apple ID, Make a new apple ID and log into game center.
    • Download the game.
    • open the game and finish the tutorial.
    • link your android game to this Apple ID on your iOS device (check THIS GUIDE for it)
    • Now factory reset your device.
    • Use your old apple ID and recover your data.
    • Log into game center and download the game.
    • Now in order to change your accounts and play with the game progress you want, all you need to do is login to game center with the account you want to play with. After that open the game, a message will show up saying do you want to load this account? Ignore the warning (Assuming your current game is connected to a Google Account/Apple ID. if it's not, you will lose this game progress), type CONFIRM and press OK



    If your existing game is on iOS Device and you want to move it to Android device (that already has a Clash of Clans game progress on it), on Your android device you need to:



    If you faced any issue regarding switching accounts, wait few hours, the cause of this might be Google, Apple, or Supercell and it will usually get fixed in few hours. Also your internet connection may cause this too, So try another internet connection.

    Yes but it's better to install the app again to fix corrupted data, and clearing data is only available on android devices (unless you have a jailbroken iOS device).

    Hi mmmaka3m,

    I played my game on Android devices for 2.5 years. Few months ago my gmail account was compromised followed by COC account. That person not only changed the passwords but also changed other available security option that I could use to recover the gmail account.
    Recently I contacted the supercell support and it took about 3 weeks for the whole process, they temporarily banned the village for 48 hours and confirmed the ownership. After confirmation they put the lock on village (as of now its been locked since couple of weeks) and gave me the unlock code which can be used to reclaim the compromised village.
    What confused me and stopped me to go ahead and unlock the village are the statements from support team "It will block all the other devices from accessing your village" & "We cannot unlock the same account twice" .

    My question is 1) if I unlock my village on iDevice , start playing, and later on plan to move it to Android device. Will there be any problems doing so??

    & 2) once I move it Android device can I just unlink/remove that GC/Apple ID used to unlock my village on iDevice??

    Hi.

    1) as far as I know if you unlock the village on your device, the village on your device will unlock but not on other devices, on other devices you have to load your village again using Google account or apple ID, only then you can you play it on other device. What that means is If you unlock your village and support team didn't unlink your village from your google account, since the hacker still has your google account, he/she may get access to your village again. That's why they asked you to recover your gmail account or change password (it's the standard procedure). If you couldn't recover your gmail, you had to tell them, and asked them to remove the Google account connected to your village so nobody can get accees to your village again by using that Google account.

    2) the link between village and Apple ID/Google account is permanent and you can't remove it. However support team can do this, since your account has been compromised they may do that for you. you have to contact them for this.
