Hordes of Barbarians started attack in my TH10 base right next to my TH10. What??

I was under the impression with this game, that you could not just use your finger to place any of your army troops anywhere inside that light orange line that surrounds the village...Does anyone know exactly how much space allows an army troop to BEAM in?

Any 3 x 3 gap anywhere on the field leaves a spot in the middle where you could place troops.
