What is the chess piece on three sides-- in front of Barbarian and Hogrider, and to the right of them (looks like it's wearing a helmet with horns, holds a sword, and from the front, the face looks like a cat). Or do I just need my glasses?

So here is my thoughts!
When i look at this picture, i can see several things.

1. It will bring new game mode! (1vs1 live attacks, as you see the hog rider and barbarian are facing each other)
2. It is not only for end game players! Why? as you see on this official picture by SC there is TH7 (or maybe even lower)!
3. It will bring nigh to our villages! There is a light to the right side of the barbarian and they are attacking each other when its dark all over the village.
4. Maybe the game vill choose which type of army you have to attack with, as you see there is only dragons on hog riders side.
5. Maybe both players attacks same base, who knows?
6. Last but not least: There is aboat to the left side of barbarian!

Where did this image come from? Looks like a new game mode or something to me.

Maybe there will be something about the wizards from Ivory tower (it is mentioned near the start of the game in the tutorial, but never again). That would certainly be very unique. If there is a ship in the update, perhaps it would bring us there?

I think that ivory tower in the game may refer to the definitions described there somehow.

I did a quick google search for cats in Norse mythology. Boat, helmet, cat... It's there, though, lol. (Freya and her cats...goddess of love and war and magic and cats and "Queen of the Valkyries" and half a dozen other things.) I really want a cat troop, haha.

Took me ages to dig this but here's my speculation.

Almost started a new thread of my own speculation, but as we all know, repeated threads are hated here. Maybe as well try to get this off my chest.

Doubt anyone will read this but here's my speculation of the update.

I'll throw Backyard Monsters as comparison(note that this is a PC game so it's not a competitor game, so you can brush that forum rule off my face now) as it represents what I speculate accurately.

As we all know, we only have one base. It MIGHT not be alone after the update.

In Backyard Monsters this is your regular base.



After a certain point you can unlock this after successfully defending waves of monsters and defeating bases(similar to the goblin maps)



After completing the campaign you can now access a new base by entering the cavern.




These are my speculations about the upcoming massive update, the update will surely be far from identical IF it's a new village we can develop.

These are pure speculations as there are no sneak peeks out yet.

Valkyries are the embodiment of Freya herself.

I could imagine 2 players in the same clan attacking the same back at once. Like a mega army with 480 spaces lol. Imagine super mass hog rider!
