The only reason I want to know when it's coming is so the update doesn't land when I've got no gold/elixir/de or any builders active.

Long time lurker here (over a year) . Just looking at all the clues scattered around that we'll have to conquer new lands. In order to do so, we'll have to take some of our resources such as collectors to those lands in order to build them. Hence the unbuild to put them on the boat. This might tie in with a not too recent post by holps (I think) talking about pay load. Unusually he doesn't say payload (which is the correct spelling) . My twopennerth

It's not the fact the update isn't out it's the utter lack of any communication!! Why does sc not just state hey guys update not ready yet trying to work out some bugs!! There you go problem solved

One of my clan members reporting a news notification on some of his older ios devices. This update may require newer version of ios, which may make some devices obselete and unable to play Clash of Clans. Can anyone confirm? This person is going to lose some of his accounts because he doesn't know the pssswords to get them to another device. Bummer

Bugs are inevitable, yes. But the big bugs (game ruining) come with rushed updates.
