You would have to have some high level players involved that would be willing to take what the lower levels are giving away.

I guess so. But I got the idea that FG were only for LEMs and not everything else.

I have an idea to add to the big brother thingy. There needs to be a way to identify the big brother or sister. I only shop my friends list and I know that the last stall is NOT always used for trading. One of my friends has placed something in her farm name to indicate that her last stall is for trading only so I make sure I don't go there. But you all know the adrenalin rush that hits when you see that bolt or deed when for weeks none were found. I don't look at the price, I just tap and sometimes I am afraid I may have tapped too soon. It's not intentional, just instinct. And if anyone notices that I have done that please kik me and I will give it back. Sometimes it is an accident while scrolling. I seem to have a lag in my game at times and have more than once bought wheat while scrolling.

anyway confession over, but if the big sister or brother could be identified in some way, it would be easier for me at least to stay away from the end. For instance, I know MarySC is a boat helper but she also rarely sells things so I know for certain to stay away from her shop unless it is full of stuff. Even then I'd probably ask first.

i also thought this was like the fairy godmother idea but also thought those were for land expansion. That's why I never asked for one, because I hate clutter so I made expanding my first priority. So of course I have loads of deeds. And since I am still in the low 40s level wise wouldn't be a good godmother or big sis, if I knew who was a big sis, I could kik them and give them my deeds to pass on.

i know this is long and I hope it made sense. But I think this is the best way. It has worked before with the godmothers and until SC gives us a gifting option formalizing this method, what ever we call it is best.

Oh and if we go with this idea, the higher level players who wants to help can buy what the lower level folks have with max coins, thereby gifting coins. Level 56 players gifts a deed, level 30 grabs it and gifts a carrot, level 62 player buys it at max. This method though would be kinda like the DD to me, you'd have to be very fast and it would help if you had two devices. I can do that but I hate to play that way since I play in bed a lot. Plus if there are no takers willing to gift coins, or in need of a cup of coffee, the whole process comes to a halt. So I still like the mentor method (big brother/godmother).

The boat helpers have a banner in their signature. Have someone make a banner for the big brothers and sisters.

    Love this idea!

Dear woozle this is a great idea! I have unofficially (sans big sister title) helped out a few people but would gladly sign up to help out lower level players.
GC and KIK: MRSMADMOOSE Level 146. Please kik me with confirmed trade before adding. Thank you! Lower level sells first preferably at default price. Thanks to Lluluien for advising how to fix my slow GC issues!

No one seems to have come up with any huge drawbacks, which is not so lovely because I'm sure there are some.
I'm still looking for constructive criticism and all suggestions.
Whilst I'm really trying to avoid people posting and asking for things, I think that posts like the above would be a good thing on the thread. It's nicely worded and represents the sort of player that I would friend in order to give a hand to.
(Would appreciate your thoughts on this Kendra)
I have a feeling there's going to be an update this week and everyone will probably be very busy then.

Well let's see what happens, (This is a genuine give away but just a trial run)

I have two land deeds to give (for 1 coin) away. YOU MUST BE LEVEL 35 OR UNDER TO CLAIM THEM AND HAVE A GC AVATAR. Please post on the thread do not p.m. I WILL REPOST THE MOMENT THEY ARE CLAIMED.
Hey- sorry - I'm trying to pretend to work (ya right)

This is awesome what you are all trying to do. Here are my mod thoughts- let me know if I didn't answer everything you wanted me to-

Another group such as the Fairy Godmothers is fine- in the past we have had 2 groups working at once. It just ends up being about how much time the "coordinators" (or Big Brothers/Big Sisters if thats what your going with) want to put into it.

However- as Woozle has said- it would have to run basically the same as that group- people giving - not advertising to sell - not advertising to trade - not asking for items they need. Because as most of us know there are already threads for that.

Of course you will have the odd post here and there of someone who really isn't aware doing such- it can be dealt with and of course wouldn't make the whole thing get shut down/locked.

Holidae's suggestion of banners in signatures is a great one also.

I suggest Woozle that when you work out the kinks and decide how you want to go forth, that you actually create a new thread- with your first post explaining this awesome thing your attempting. This thread could then be locked if you wish.

Sorry if I haven't answered everything- just let me know.

I like the idea of "giving back" and plan to do this myself once I fully expand my land and fishing areas. I continually get mallets and marker stakes while working my farm, but very rarely get any deeds. I try scrounging for them via my friends' RSSs the DD and on occasion, I find and get some. Thus, expanding my land is quite a slow process and I have yet to do any fishing expansions.

This one could be a very, very lengthy description, so I'll try to give you the short version, and see how it goes...!!!

    THE CHARITY BOX

Each farm is given a charity box for donations from other people, like friends, followers, or advertisers in the DD...

There is a lot of options and variations, both for and against, (we have been discussing it for days now) but the whole thing HAS to be voluntary, hence the idea. In a way, it's similar to filling other folks' boat crates, only with a choice, but no reward... People could only receive stuff in their charity box according to whatever level they are on, and is not diamond (sales) related. We are not talking everything here, but things like animal feeds, crops, fruits, vegetables, eggs, milk, jams, juices, and pretty basic stuff.. (Although ANYTHING in your barn or silo is bought and paid for by whatever means necessary - So it could be anything that is allowed...??? - This was our main arguing point... Lol.) If anyone donates something to someone that is not wanted or required, they sell it, and make a few extra coins, just to help them along.. That is what charity is about..

I realise some people will really begrudge giving anything away for free, but also know there are people who would gladly give away some less valuable goods to assist their struggling fellow farmers.

Could/would it be a good idea, or a big flop...??? (If it's a hit, then it was me that posted it, but if it flops, remember it was the wife's idea..!!! Hehe.)
    John.
Throughout all this discussion, I noticed that no one commented on the above post. I actually love this idea! Here's a bit of expansion on that...

Each farm's Charity Box would have a list inside of it where the farmer would indicate the items they would appreciate being donated...maybe the list would have a cap of 3 or maybe 5 items. When a neighbor opens the Charity Box, they will see what the farmer is hoping for and, if they can, leave one of those items. If they aren't able to leave one of those items, then they have the choice of leaving something else or closing the box and checking back later.

Something similar to this is done on another game I play and it's nice to see what my friends need by checking their wish lists.

This seems to be something we would have to get SC to program into the game if I'm understanding it right. Since we haven't been that successful getting some changes through them (like a confirmation button on the diamonds), I think people were looking for something unofficial we could do on our own.

Hi Knitgal, I wonder if the other game you are referring to features a haunted Manor house (Better not mention any names), If so I played it very badly before Hay Day and know that you can give gifts, but I couldn't work out then how to make friends so got nowhere! However there is no doubt it was a really nice idea and it did seem fairly simple.

I haven't commented on John's wife's idea not because I don't think it's a lovely one, but because I'm trying not to get too sidetracked, And also because it's something that we just can't do ourselves it would have to come from SC.

With regard to land deeds, I put two up for grabs on this thread six hours ago and I'm still waiting for someone to claim them. See post #23.

Edit: this offer is still current:

I have two land deeds to give (for 1 coin) away. YOU MUST BE LEVEL 35 OR UNDER TO CLAIM THEM AND HAVE A GC AVATAR. Please post on the thread do not p.m. I WILL REPOST THE MOMENT THEY ARE CLAIMED.
