Hi Perky! How are you? That's one thing we have in common. I don't make coffee unless I need it. My poor coffee machine sits quietly in a corner.

As the junior officer (I was a Lieutenant O-3) in a VERY high level meeting with SEVERAL Navy Captains and other local Commanding Officers, my CO asked me to go make the coffee.

I said, "Sir, I am going to have to respectfully decline."

You could have heard a pin drop, as all those Navy O-6s thought I was refusing because it was a sexist request. You could see they were all horrified, and the Captain was P-Oed.

Quickly, I explained: "Sir, I don't drink coffee, so I don't know how to make coffee. I am pretty sure y'all wouldn't want to drink any coffee I made. [laughter] So I think it best that I just respectfully decline, and we can all leave the meeting without being sick. I am happy to bring y'all some Diet Cokes."

So the CO looks at the XO (a Navy Commander O-5, and the next most junior officer in the room) and says, "Rick -- go make the coffee."

The XO leaves, and on his way out stabs me with a killer glare and hisses at me (almost sort of under his breath) "0600, tomorrow morning. Coffee training. Be there or go on report, LT."

I was there at 0600. And I learned how to make coffee the way the CO likes it (follow the machine directions but add extra 1/2 scoop coffee for 1/2 pot, 1 scoop for full pot. Fill pitcher to # of cups, pour out 2 seconds of water into the sink, put rest in machine, and hit the button).

I ran into my CO 5 years ago, and I repeated the recipe to him. We had a pretty good laugh about it. Especially since I STILL DON'T MAKE COFFEE!! ha ha ha

Managed to fill 2 crates of bacon and eggs and 1 of popcorn... need help with 2 crates of popcorn and all 3 crates of ice cream.

Which crates do U suggest I open?
