The whole thing seems unnecessary. Plus, it's not anonymous, I feel like some very vindictive people would just "revenge" bad rep you. Which, bad rep, good rep, doesn't matter as it doesn't stop me from posting. But, as a clan recruiter, I don't want there to be a chance I earn bad rep, and someone who isn't familiar with forums and just came to find a clan see's me as an "unknown quantity" or whatever the term will change to if it goes low enough.

Heck, what if I just give bad rep to all other clan recruiters, just saying my opinion that their recruitment post is bad, I don't their clan name, their clan badge is blue etc etc. Or just not say anything at all.

IMO, the FRS isn't gonna make it past the 60 day trial period. I'm saying this because a lot of people have been facing flak recently because of it and I'm one of them. Due to the FRS, I can't even post my opinion freely due to the fear of being downvoted so much that I'll have to quit the forums. Recently I've been downvoted very often, even though I haven't made a single toxic comment till date and I've been polite to everyone on the forums. I know some people (I'm not referencing to anyone here) who are always ready to rebuke other people irrespective of their contribution to the forums. I rest my case here. If anyone wanna downvote me for this, then they can do so freely. Thanks.

Does getting negative rep really matter? You basically get it from people who disagree with you. That is not what it is supposed to be for but that's how it works. You won't banned for having negative rep as long as your posts are legit and within the rules.

Hopefully, if the opinion was stated reasonably and thoughtfully, the up votes the person gets will outweigh such inappropriate down votes. However, people that constantly are toxic, rude, etc. will likely get more down votes than up votes. So, they will be properly noted as having a negative reputation. Whether that matters is up to the individual users of this forum I suppose.

Alex, I love you as a moderator but no matter what the guy has or hasn't done I believe this post maybe in breach of forum rule 19?

By explaining why he was banned IS discussing the ban. I am in no way having a go at Alex here as I said I think he is a great mod. And if Alex had something to do with it so what that is his job.

But it can't be one rule for one and another for another.

There is simply no transparency to this rule. You can't talk about bans. The transparency is he was banned ergo he did something against the rules simple.

I agree with the first one, that people in power do often abuse said power. And I also understand why Alex said it however, if he did abuse his power I am sure that he would have been reprimanded.

IMHO no matter the situation I don't believe that mods should be able to discuss bans regardless of the reasoning. And although I think bans should be allowed to be talked about the fact is they aren't.

And as above this is the last I will speak of it

come on guys, surely you understand the reason for rule 19 is to prevent complaints from forumers who disagree with mods actions leading to toxicity and unpleasantness. The rules are for forums users, not for forums moderators, it is in fact partly to protect forum moderators from forum users. If a mod wants to share information relation to banning that is clearly not a problem, and there is no reason the rules should work both ways.

I think it adds to the divide between the certain hot topics. Clouds, Engineering, Farm Wars, etc. will generally be side A or side B. I don't want to have negative rep, but I understand that's what comes with sometimes expressing my side B views in an overwhelmingly side A thread.

That last thing you want is for people to stop posting their true opinions out of fear of negative rep. Some people will take FRS seriously enough as a popularity contest. If that turns out to be true, then FRS has lost any little bit of benefits that it supposedly has. No one should care about positive reps as we already have badge, forum title/status to honor major contributors. But if FRS succeeded in preventing even just one user from posting his true opinion, then the system has done more harm than good.

I can relate; fortunately it was a Fresh Spawn, so it doesn't count. You should report that rep vote to a mod as that goes against rule #20.
