There should be an exchange rate for elixir to gold and gold to elixir (maybe trade 4 gold for every one elixir and vice versa). I am often in a situation where I have a large amount of elixir that I cannot use while I need gold or I have gold and need elixir. If you wanted to throw dark elixir into the equation as well you could make the exchange rate something like 1,000 or 10,000 gold or elixir for 1 dark. Thoughts?

The reason it's a bad idea is because it will ruin the economy. How you ask? Most th8s are done upgrading lab before walls, so that elixir will not be around anymore for newer th9s to raid.

Elixir for walls at th8? We already had that desaster back in 2014 and btw. I was a th8 at that time and it was a real horror.
