Plenty of people did know about it, it has been mentioned on this forum quite a few times for a start.

When a milestone is reached by someone using it, then naturally a spotlight is going to be shone on the practice and discussion started around it.

How is it smart? We see the top clans always in flux, with their 'feeder clans' and 'farming clans'. We see the top trophy chasers swapping clans before ending up in the one of their choice when Sunday comes around. To be honest you would have to be pretty dense not to know what was going on.

I'm surprised there is not more discussion around the claim of $2500 to $3000 being spent on the game. That seems a very low amount to me.

There has been some spirited debate on whether they employed tactics or cheated the system. However, the one thing that impressed me in considering how 4000 trophies was accomplished is that he actually made use of his clan. Prior to this interview, what was a clan good for other than a few troop donations and a chat channel? I had been hoping for SC to implement some sort of cooperative gameplay mode when it seems it was there all the time and I simply did not see it.

Mind you, I don't think I will be attempting to employ these techniques but I do admire the creative use of the game mechanics.
