I'm on the fence on this one. Each unto their own is my motto. We face all sorts of clans in war and just get on with it.

We only war with th11,10,9, all in different stages of upgrades. We recently faced a clan with approx 18 max offence th9 out of 18 and the lowest base had 30/30 heroes. So is perma th9 (maxing) not just another form of engineering? Not complaining, just saying lots of ways to play the game. Strategy starts before prep day.

Unless they are completely horrible, we have no chance to defeat them.
    Hi Charlie,
My own clan sounds similar to yours, 85%+ win ratio since the big March 2016 update, current win streak 6.

Matchmaking has changed somewhat, especially since the October 2016 update. I'd be interested to know more about your TH10's, at the top of your roster. Are they big Hero max Offence TH10's?
It does seem that 'big hero maxed bases' at TH10 or TH9 are sometimes drawing either added defence (usually) or added offence opposition.

There's a thread below on how to avoid engineers :-

I'd also add, when we lose, it is mostly to better clans. Sometimes there's an occasional engineered base, but we almost never ever match an "insanely engineered clan".

    Good luck!

I gave up on this issue and upgraded my two TH9's to TH10 and did not build the infernos. I also upgraded my rushed TH8 to TH9 and did not build Xbows, We now have an 18 war win streak. The way the rules are written engineering has the advantage so in reality who is forcing who to play a certain way. I just got tired of losing, it is what it is.

People talk about some small war mismatches in coc. Have you guys played clash royale? Every battle is a huge mismatch there.

Just increase weighting to the offensive troop strength, since the advantage of engineering is to get next level troops while keeping defensive weighting down.

Ok, I understand the frustration, but here's a different question:

If they have offence 2 levels above defence...why aren't you 3 starring in return? Surely should be a perfect draw?

I do get it, and your frustration probably meant a bit of exaggeration in the OP, but surely you must appreciate the logic.

I've seen so many threads on the forums trying to find a solution to this so I'm sure somebody has brought this up already. What about a weight tax based on disparity between offence and defence. Key troops that engineered players focus on (valks, drags, loons, lava etc) would weigh heaviest). So the bigger the gap the higher the tax? A defenceless base would therefor pull the highest tax and a more casual player that is rushed would pull a much lower tax? Just a thought.

Nerfedname made this proposition a good while ago, can't find the link atm.

However...there does seem to be a bit of this effect in action now in MM. (I say seem, as it's always circumstantial, anecdotal estimations, so can't say definitively either way).
General consensus of opinion is that something like this is happening a lot with max offence TH.5s, where the opposition will have a lot of full def bases, sometimes with weaker offence.

Seems like a really bad decision to not change the war matching.
