I have to tell you that you had me in stiches last night with your "Fishy" & "Fishhook" comment. AWS = Annual Wage Supplement

It's something quite unique to the Singapore wage system. Back during our colonial days, wages were paid on weekly basis. But with the modern times, we have progressed to a monthly wage scheme. The problem with monthly pay is that, some months have 5 weeks whilst others have 4. If you count by weeks, we would hv lost out on 4-weeks (1-months) salary. Therefore, our govt came up with this AWS to compensate us at the end of the year. This AWS is paid out in addition to our bonus.
