The problem with multi-phased attacks right now is the tanking. You pretty much have to dedicated your forces to hitting from the same side because if your army is spread out it will not last. If they were to rework the golem, there might be more options for multiple phases.
The baby dragon mechanic is incredible. I would like to borrow from that idea. If a golem is by itself with no other tanks in range, it gets an HP boost. This will limit the chance of golems becoming OP. Maybe even give the new ability to level 5 golem only.
The buff should be significant enough so damage troops supporting the golem can be used sparingly, and in multiple areas. The area of effect should be very large so golems would have to be far apart to receive the buff.
