    Cool Lets start farming!

Hey guys! I notice that a lot of people are pushing for trophies at th 7 or 8, and completely neglecting farming. I'm gonna talk a little about farming vs. trophy pushing here, but don't think this is just about that. If you already have it down solid that farming is more important, then you can skip this next bit.
Now, getting trophies does give you a proud feeling inside, that you can go around flaunting your nice shiny league badge in global, and everyone will be pestering you to join your clan, or give them tips on your bases. Now, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with trophy farming. It helps your clan and... well thats pretty much it.
Farming at th 7 and 8 is absolutely crucial, and should definitely have priority over trophies. Trophies don't really count for much, unless you think you can gat on the leader board. You need to farm in order to build up your defenses, and get a stronger army. Up to th 7, you can usually push for trophies, and get all of the resources you need at the same time, but at th 7, things start to get a little more expensive.
Th 7 is when I really started to look for good farming strategies, and here is the one I have been using since then. I am currently at th 8, with level 5 troops with level 6 army camps. If your army strength is different than this, then you may want to adjust the build accordingly.

    74 archers
    8 wallbreakers
    70 goblins
    40 barbarians/8 giants

This has worked just fine, but it is mostly designed to take down bases with poorly defended/uncollected resources. here is how I do it. I deploy a single archer targeting a building that is unprotected, and out of range. I do this to every unprotected building I can find. I then use a wave of archers and either giants or barbarians to take out the distractions, and use the goblins and wall breakers to get to the resources.

This strategy has worked ok for me, but I fell that it could be much better. Please post your ideas, and other strategies in the comments. There are a lot of people who need the help

The point of this was not to introduce this new trend called farming, it was to help people who need to know how to farm better. I'm not sure what gave you the impression that I didn't know that people already farmed.

This sounds like a good one. But I'm curious why you say that barbs can substitute in for gobs. It can be really hard to destroy all of the distractions in front of the storages, so that the mindless archers and barbarians will target them.

This seems like it would work, and usually can get you at least two stars on a base. It will get you resources too if you plan carefully. But I think it is better to use a cheeper army, without healers. You definitely want some goblins with you too. 20 giants isn't completely necessary since your goal is to get the resources, not completely total the base.
If this army works for you, then by all means, keep with it. This is just my personal opinion

Agreed, to farm well you need an army that is cheap enough and quick enough to build, that can extract as many resources as possible (think: return on investment over time, and realise that the easiest resource to get is also the biggest in a neglected base i.e. the collectors/mines/pumps).

However, just as important to good farming, is the same thing as successful trophy hunting: picking the right base!

I've heard lots of clan mates complaining the loot isn't great at their trophy ranges, seen replays of them smashing bases with huge armies for about 200k of each (or less) which is way overkill, and so on... meanwhile I've been mucking around over 2000 trophies, with my TH8, and with perseverence I've found abandoned bases which I can extract 250-400k+ of each, and hundreds if not thousands of DE, and I do so using an army which I can build out in way under 20 minutes because it's simple troops that uses all 6 barracks. What are they doing wrong, vs me? The key is simply hitting "next" until you get what you are looking for...!

In the case of farming, you want a loot total way over 200k of each (taking into account any loot bonus e.g. for me it's over 300k for TH10), and clear evidence that the collectors are quite full (de pumps full, xbows/inferno towers empty, etc).

If you need trophies, make sure you are attacking a base that offers lots for a win (and little for a loss), and is one you feel 90% confident in winning (given your own army etc).

Based on my own personal experiences of the last few weeks, I strongly beleive that you can find whatever you want, at a variety of trophy ranges, but you have to be prepared to press "next" enough times... sometimes a great base comes up immediately, but often times you just need to be prepared to keep looking, 100+ times if needed, until you've skipped all the tough bases that have just logged off (whose only loot is in well protected stores), and you find a base that is going to be much easier to deal with!

Couldn't have said it better myself! My clan mates are similar too. They say they are farming when they are using really expensive armies that have the potential to 3 star a base, but take forever to train. I do have a question about the trophy range to farm in though. I am in the early stages of th 8 (mortars level 6, wizard towers at 4, cannons at 9-10), and I seem to find better raids around 1400-1500 trophy range. I haven't yet reached the 2000 range, but I am suspecting that I need a stronger base, and better troops for around there. Is it really that good to farm there?
