Is it really important to max th8 before going to th9

well i have always known about loot oenalty, so i have been in th8 for a while maxing, but ironically some of my members in the clan when i visit them have full gold storages and are using all their builders, so is it really important to max before upgrading, or should i just upgrade because i dont see loot penalty making a difference only on th10s

Depends. Can we see pics? Generally you want to max TH8 (or at least the walls) as getting them is a pain at th9.

Get the walls to at least level 7. The rest of your stuff looks pretty good, althoug hI disagree with the decision to get level 10 ATs before level 6 wiz towers.

If you want to start pushing for trophies upgrading your hall will help immensely. Although if you want to get good loot; I would suggest staying at TH8 for a bit longer. Get walls to purple and upgrade other stuff in-between.

Skulls are nice, but are a much bigger grind. I'm taking that challenge on though right now.

I wouldn't upgrade with those walls. Upgrade those bad boys to at least lvl 7 because it will take a hell of a lot longer at TH9.

I think it's always important to at the very least try to max out your town hall, no matter what level it is. In your case, since you're moving to th 9, if you are a hardcore farmer, who can get a mill each day or something, then you should upgrade your walls while your town hall is upgrading. im getting currently my second pvl 6 wizi, but besides the walls, isnt lvl 9 better, more base layouts, more defense (xbows) etc

Haha! Your clanmates sounds like mine. I advised them to max or near max before upgrading because of loot penalty but they didn't listen. I expected them to get frustrated and have idle builders but you know what? Those guys are addicts. They play all day. So it didn't really matter to them because they were attacking so often they more than made up for the penalty. In my case, I play only a few hours a day, it would result in idle builders. If I were in your shoes, I'd finish maxing before upgrading the th coz you still have a LOT of work to be done. For you, it really all depends... Premature upgrading will certainly take more "work" (unless you call it play... ) to get the gold. But you get access to better troops earlier. And if you really WANT play a lot, having the loot penalty is fine. I have encountered some very good days where I had time to play but since I was getting very good loot and have only 3 builders, I've maxed my storages and had to stop playing or I'd be stealing from someone and not be able to keep the loot.
