More than just the same old, same old / regular events / cash prizes
I’m part of an up-and-coming clan called “Heavenly divine” that I’m sprucing up with some extra events and challenges outside of clan wars that I describe a bit below. However, I would love to have more people to participate in these events. The more people that join and participate, the more competitive and fun this will be. Let me know what you think, and join us if this sounds as awesome as I hope it will be (with your help).
War stats and the "calculation"
I am keeping an in-depth excel file recording a whole bunch of player stats (mostly from wars) for each month. For now this includes:
War participation
War attack stars
War defense stars
War 12 hour attacks (attacks within 1st 12 hours of attack day)
War heroics
War missed attacks
Donation totals
Weekly/monthly challenge winners (more on this below)
I have a calculation set up to sample all of these stats and incorporate them into one value that I'm calling "clan productivity", which is set up to be a reflection of how much each player has contributed to the clan. Believe me when I say that this excel file really shows how much of a nerd I truly am. You will be impressed (maybe horrified?). These clan productivity values are used to set up a ranking. The player with the highest score each month will be sent a $10 prize (perhaps more if this catches on). I'd like to avoid snail-mail, so I have been sending the reward via facebook messenger (there is a way), but I'm willing to try other ways as well.
Raid Competitions
As I mentioned above, weekly/monthly challenges also feed into the clan productivity score. The first of these competitions to get going are raid competitions. At the beginning of each week-long competition, I list out some sort of army composition (such as all goblins, all valkyries, barch, more standard ones like gowipe, etc). Using the troops listed, each player will try and get the highest loot score they can in any one normal raid (not a sum of loot scores). Heroes, cc troops (as long as they fit the rules), and any spells are also free game. After people share their replays in the clan chat, I take a screenshot to record the loot score. At the end of each competition, I record the winner in my excel file, which will give them a large boost to their productivity score for the month, and will give them a significant boost towards the monthly prize. I list out the rules in the clan chat as well as our facebook group (same name as our clan "Heavenly divine"), and I will hopefully update the facebook group semi-regularly with the highest score up until that point. Through these competitions, it has been pretty awesome to find that some lesser-used troops or wacky army compositions can actually be pretty effective and cheap for raiding.
Friendly Challenge Frenzy
The raid competitions are established, but we will try and get other events started as well. One that I am personally excited about is something I'm calling "friendly challenge frenzy". Basically, I want to have one night per week established where people will just hang out in the clan chat and just keep sharing friendly challenges.
It could be as simple people just sharing friendly challenges, but we could also incorporate this into some sort of competition that also feeds into the clan productivity score. For instance, we could have me or one of the coleaders share a friendly challenge with a specific base or specific set of bases, and the first person to 3 star it/them would be the winner. There are other ways this could be handled as well, so let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions.
The Guys
We have a core of long-time members that are really just great people. We’re all adults, and many of us are family men that clash to have fun and connect with other members. We also have some college students among us (me included). We’re not critical of people and will take the time to give suggestions to help members improve. I was the leader of the clan for almost two years, and it was one of the hardest things I’ve done (because I started my PhD program) to give that up. So whether you come for the wars (we have some skilled attackers and solid record), for the events/challenges I described, or just to have fun and talk with our members, you really can’t go wrong with this clan. Trust me and give us a shot.
Come join us!
If any of this sounds fun to you, please don't hesitate to join our clan (Heavenly divine). A lot of this is already started and running, but I would love more participants to make this as fun and competitive as it could be. If you have any thoughts, ideas, comments, critiques, suggestions, or anything please leave a comment here or in our clan chat.
Basically everything I talked about here, I want to mediate through our facebook group so that information about the events and such don't get lost in the clan chat, so if you do decide to join, PLEASE join our facebook group (again, same name as our clan). This will really make things a lot easier.
I am extremely impressed. Trying to start up a clan myself, so I know the amount of effort and dedication you're putting in. Absolutely amazing work. Keep it up. I have you bookmarked to see you guys grow. Best of luck!
Thanks for responding and for the kind words. I do pride myself on doing everything I can to help out the clan. I've worked hard to set this system up, and I'm really excited to continue all of this as the clan continues to grow. I wish you the best with your own clan, and I would be willing to share my master excel file if you'd like to use it. I checked your clan out, and I was impressed with your war record. If you struggle to get back up to ten members, please don't hesitate to request to join the clan and bring any of your members with you. We don't give out co-leader willy-nilly, but I would certainly respect your position as leader, and I would fast-track your promotion process as long as you're active in the clan. But again, best of luck whatever you decide.
Our current raid competition is a composition highlighting pekkas, witches, and wallbreakers in celebration of the buffs to pekkas and witches after this last update. It's great to see those witches surviving blasts by giant bombs!
