The way I have organised my feed mills makes one chicken pen completely useless and only 12 eggs available every hour. And that is not enough for the way I play.

The first things I sell when my barn is full (and that happens often) are bacon pies and sheperds pie that I will need to bake again as soon as barn is upgraded. Plus I do not like my hot dog stand iddle... And feeding the dogs and puppies twice a day... Need way more bacon than what my pigs give me!!

I like how everybody has a different way of playing Hay Day... Different struggles, different needs.. Makes it fun

There's a great thread somewhere about how people use their feed mills, interesting to read but mostly you kind of nod along, but every now & then you think 'WHAT? That makes NO sense?!'

I always have chicken feed, but not always sheep or goat feed, but there's always wool & goat milk in the DD. I TRY to keep some s/g feed in the barn, but it always ends up being the sacrificial item when I have no barn space (IE all the time, I'm a stacker). I use one mill to make chicken feed & try to keep it going as much as possible & I throw in goat & sheep feed when I'm going to be busy. The other mill I use for cow & pig feed. I have all the animals.

I try to keep the Hot Dog stand (and all other machines) going 24/7 (obviously not possible on some, like the coffee stand) so it's a constant juggle between raw products, space in the barn & 'full machines'. I could use more bacon, but I cope OK as I never sell bacon anything in the RSS - there are other sacrificial items I use first I prioritise pet feeding as they give tools - nice little woofers!

Honey & wax. It's usually just part of the Great Barn Juggle whether I make wax or honey, it mostly depends on how many spaces I can make to collect honey & whether I need 3 spaces to collect feed or just 2 to harvest crops usually

I find it fascinating how others play & what they prioritise. I simply can't imagine not stacking & having plenty of stock waiting on the tables, but it would be so much easier to farm that way!

I find the best way to save anything is to not use it while I am producing it.

So if I need honey, I don't make anything with honey until I have lots.

If I need to stockpile sugar, I don't make anything with sugar until I have what I need.

First of all, welcome to the HD subforum.

I would love to have more bees because I'm hoarding too many axes.

First, feed mills. I rarely collect goat milk, wool, or eggs. I usually buy all that in the DD. I use one feed mill for 5 cow feed/4 chicken feed and the other is 5 pig feed/2 goat feed/2 sheep feed. I load them the exact way every time unless I have a feed or egg task. Back when I was trying to complete the mastery on the feed mills I got in the habit of just running them all the time and it sells so well that I just kept going. I never run out of feed and I only stack it when I have a lot of exp mats (close to upgrading something).

As far as bees, I think the answer is how often you play. They need to be hard at work as much as possible. I do agree that it helps a lot if you put the bee tree near your rss or whatever you look at often and setting alarms could help as well.

I'm interested in your stacking. Right now I'm only stacking on my smelters (it's wonderful! one smelter for each metal), and maybe briefly with feed, bread, and regular popcorn. The only time I have really stacked before was derby prep and it was temporary. The issue I have with stacking is not knowing how many of a particular item I have in that pile. Do you rotate? Just make replacements for what you use? I always feel like I'm going to need whatever is at the bottom of the pile. Do you keep a certain number of each product in your barn or do you need to collect a ton of stuff to get to what you need? I'm also curious about your barn size. I decided to stop at 5000 because surely that would be big enough....I was wrong lol.

Sorry if this is too nosy!

Here is how I use my feed mill!

I have 5 slots for each

I milk the cows, feed the cows, put 5 cow feed on

I do the pigs, feed the pigs and put 5 pig feed on

All of the other animals I take/make feed in between the above. Therefore, I pretty much always have feed for my animals

    Definitely not nosy

My feed mills are both going constantly. I collect from all the animals, the more you collect the more XP & more tool drops you get. I'll happily buy extra if I need them though.

I still play a lot, but not as much as before. I play solo pretty much now, so there's no pressure to do anything for anyone else, it's nice.
So my bees get collected from loads, it's just that I use loads! Because of the way I play/stack, they never get forgotten!

Stacking. I stack every machine. It would be great if you could see what was stacked & get things from the middle I have tried many, many, different systems of rotating, queuing, organising...now I just try to keep some of each item in the barn & load the machines with either what I think I need or with whatever raw stuff I have available - it all works out in the end. You get to know over time what you need more of or less of and kind of instinctively what you've loaded in the machines, but the key (for me) is just not worrying about it. I'll happily send boat after boat away because they're not getting dairy or jam etc, so if there's also a boat that needs something I don't have or can't get easily in friends RSS/DD it gets sent away too. I don't do trucks unless it's an event I want to do (double XP or deco these days, double coins doesn't interest me much). For the Derby I often have to 'unstack' a ton of stuff, so I tend to hold my barn/silo expansion until I do the Derby tasks (I do them all on Sunday night, very quickly, having stacked loads of good tasks & product).

My barn & silo are both a bit bigger than that, but they'll never be 'big enough' because that's the nature of stacking, you need the barn to be full to stack & you always want to have more in there that's readily available. Plus the bigger the barn the more tools you need to expand. I'm also hoarding some LEM!

It drives me bonkers sometimes because it's annoying to constantly get 'full barn' or 'you need to collect items' notifications and it's LOVELY when you've just expanded the barn or silo as its so easy to feed the pets & buy things etc BUT I can't imagine only having what's already in my barn & not stacks of stuff just waiting, plus it's harder to prepare Derby production tasks in advance.

However, I only have thus weeks Derby plus 1 more then I'll have the Achievement. I'm not sure how I'm going to play after that. It might be fun to stop stacking & see how it goes. I also fancy doing the Scorched Earth Challenge.

Thanks so much for all the info!

I was afraid of that lol, I never found a good way to stack either, as far as having what you need and being able to get to it anyway. The little stacking that I do, I always go to the dd and fill my barn with eggs so I can stack and then I load the rest of my machines and sell off the left over eggs. I still find my barn stays so full though. I stopped upgrading it recently to work on my silo, it's only at 3750 ( I think) and I was okay with it until the new crops were added, now I need more room.

I have tried the scorched earth challenge. Well, a version of it anyway. I wasn't going to cut down my orchards so I bought some baby trees to start with and didn't collect from any of the trees I had until the new ones matured. I also kept all the exp mats I had at the time. It kinda hurt to sell off my feta and lobsters though! The worst part was starting off with only one of each crop. I didn't use the dd for anything and the crops take FOREVER to build up. Even the quick ones take a day or two. It was pretty fun though over all and it was definitely novel to have an empty barn!! I think it ended up taking about a month to build up to where I had been when I started.
