Impossible to revenge😠

I find it impossible to revenge, someone who has attacked my village, so I wanted to verify how this could be---
I joined the clan of the guy who had attacked me, and asked him, if I could have a chance to get my trophies back with a revenge attack, he was nice enough to give me the opportunity--
So he removed his shield, and told me he would go offline in few seconds...
I then proceeded to leave the clan, and went and repeatedly pressed the revenge button...
Even though I kept pressing rapidly it kept saying " village owner still online"...
Still pressing after one minute passed.. it went.. ^instantly^.. from "online".. to village is been attacked"!!!..
I then went back in his clan.. and he told me he was offline. For about a minute, and then got attacked by someone else!
Even though I was pressing the revenge button repeatably!!

Whats going on!!?.
Please help share some light on this subject!

You are put into multi-player matchmaking for a few minutes before you are available for revenge.

This so cause people at the top were using revenge to hold on to and pass cups around to each other

i guess that makes sence,

But i suppose that means there isnt really even a point to have that revenge button, passed champions league, as the base is attacked on 'multi-player matchingmaking' usually within 3 minutes...
