Concern for the loss of Game Center app with ios10's release

Non-techy question here...

If the GC app is disappearing in iOS 10, will those who decide not to update to iOS 10 still be able to use the app? My mind can't quite work that out, lol. If the app is gone, will it matter what version of iOS one uses?

I really, really hope that all game producers will consider an in-app friend add feature. I don't add a lot of GC friends as it is, but I am extremely less likely to add someone I do not know from a link I probably won't trust, lol.

I'm in a nh with Batty. Didn't need a translator for any of it.

I am also interested if I do t update what will happen to my GC? I "only" have 152 friends but they are all wonderful. I would hate to lose anyone. It's the pic that is driving me mad. I tend to just go by avatar rather than name. Names change on farms but pics tend to stay the same. Hard to keep track now. Us Old folks need a break here. K?

This is my concern too, that it will all go with ios10. I use the avatars and finding it very frustrating at present.

"Clearing their desks" is exactly what it looks like. If HD was a boom boom, blow things up, shoot them from the sky, fire arrows, raiding (gasp) kind of game instead of our nice polite quiet farming game, then I think we would have had more notice and a solution would have been in place long ago.

Does this not affect CoC? Boom beach? Where is the outrage from those players? I guess I need a trip to the darkside of the forums.

Having played Clash for nearly 3 years GC changes should be a big concern there too.

Many clashers have more than one account and need to log out of one gamecenter email and log into another to access the other account.

If that ability is lost...wow SuperCell are starring at huge losses all round.

Even een though this post is lighthearted and fun it has a message in there. I'll get to that in a bit.

First of all I'm sorry I can't answer any questions or concerns at this moment as I simply don't know what the future holds.

There's one thing I am sure of and that's I'm sure SC is very well aware and must have been watching Apple's developments closely. I'm also sure this has been discussed in the team and I'm sure they have also talked about solutions alternatives and whatelse not.

I was fortunate enough to meet the Hay Day team on 2 different occasions and they're one of the best game teams I have met. Sssshhh don't tell the other teams they'd be jealous Joking aside they're very receptive of community ideas and feedback and amazingly caring people who do love their job and love the game they work on.

Now all that said yes I don't have more news then wait and see as I must wait and see as well but I'm quite sure it is considered. As soon as they're ready Nick will share more news when he can however he too is merely human and does enjoy weekend time every now and then.

I can think of a variety of alternatives which I won't mention not to raise expectations. It doesn't add anything and isn't helpful here. I'm sure that's why Nick also hasn't shared any news or details. And nothing is ever set in stone in these games. Even if they don't address this immediately it doesn't say they won't ever address it in a future update.

Let's look at this from a different perspective and here is where Myso's post comes into play. There's no such thing as GC and GC friends on android. If they want in game friends they have to rely on FB and following other players and that's it. iOS users always had an extra option through GC. I'm really really not a FB fan myself. And guess what ? Android players survived and thrived in this game so yes it wouldn't be the end of the world if there's no alternative, I can survive.

To your android FB point Kolonistje1; the key difference is Andriod players knew there was no alternative even before playing. If they had privacy concerns they could make a "gaming Facebook" account to protect their identity.

For many of us playing via GC who accidentally logged into our personal Facebook once - boom connected. And with that stupid Facebook button next to Greg I'm sure many of us have done it before.

We have no means to play our farm on Facebook with privacy. Unless SuperCell create a way to transfer a farm to a new Facebook account which WillieBDare posted about earlier. Which would still be a hassle managing two Facebook accounts.

Clearly the best solution is an in game add friend feature.

You can always contact support and ask them to unlink the previously linked FB account and set up a game FB account and then link that. It's a bit of work as you will have to go through the verification process to prove the game is yours.

That's news to me, thanks it would be a decent workaround. Still means 2 FB accounts but would be better than where we are with GC falling.

Yes they can but as a player by yourself you cannot. It's a security thing so a farm doesn't get lost all that easily.
Like I said you'll need to go through the whole security questions thing just like a lost account to prove its your account again for obvious security reasons.

It may not be the most ideal solution and we have to wait and see if there are better options (yes I know broken record here) however it's a workable solution.

Isn't having more than one Facebook a violation of their TOS? But this is the suggestion from one of the biggest game companies in the world? smh

There are people out there who have no real FB account. Yes it exists I'm one of them.

Wasn't it Facebook that recently made it so that vBulletin users could not log on to forums if they had Facebook cookies? Didn't Supercell throw up their hands on that and say to hell with it? Yet, it is possible that Supercell is going to leave gamers with only the Facebook option for having friends, because Apple has thrown them a curve?

This is pathetic! Get some coders and get an in-game friend system.

I've been thinking about the completely uninformed user that just plays Hayday, buys lots of diamonds and is perfectly happy. But, in a few days, it is entirely possible that their farm will no longer save that recent mega diamond purchase. They're going to log on and see their diamonds gone.

The saving of the farm progress is a serious matter. Rome is burning, Supercell!!!!

Jumping to conclusions really isn't very productive and only causes unnecessary panic.

Game Center is how our farms are saved. If there is no Game Center, there can be no saving. That's not jumping to conclusions, that's telling it like it is.

It matters not whether a person has a "real" facebook account or not. Advising those who do to go and create a secondary "fake" account is simply advising someone to break the Terms of Service on a partner website.

Possibly GC will still have some functionality through settings of your device and thus making game saving possible. It's managing (adding / removing) friends and achievements etc which will vanish. So yes jumping to conclusions.

Whoops it was their own FB account in question. For some reason I read "a" FB account. A tad late here. 🙈
Anyway for some that won't be an option however the same applies to android users who have a real FB account as well so my initial story doesn't change on that aspect. There's plenty of players who play without adding friends and it's still playable and all that said we don't know if there will be other options yet.
