Concern for the loss of Game Center app with ios10's release

Just as a FYI (if you weren't aware) that Android players have to stick to Facebook to add friends. iOS players had the option to choose GC and/or Facebook.

Which is exactly the point of all the foot stamping (at least on my part) I have stuck with Apple products for that very reason. I wanted Game Center. Not google plus, or Facebook as an option for my games. When ♥♥♥♥♥♥cell rolled out the option for android it was exciting news. We were all under the impression that we would have access to friends the same as iOS. Big fail there. Didn't happen. Now here we iOS players are in the same boat as android. Unless we make a fake Facebook account (against Facebook rules but touted as an option by ♥♥♥♥♥♥cell) we are stuck. I refuse to give personal info out to play my game. As far as I understand that's what I will be having to do. I have all the friends I can add now I guess.

Angel, are you connected to those friends by Facebook? I ask because the only two people on my friends tab that still have avatars is a real life friend who is a Facebook friend and a friend from the forum who I followed and know has Android.

Yes, I use facebook too. It's a gaming fb. Nothing personal about me..You choose yourself what you want to be on there. I mean even my last name is hay day! It's not the best solution but it works fine. I scrolled to my whole friend list and I see avatars. I know one friend that is using GC (for sure) and I see her avatar too.

So this whole avatar problem is not effecting every single person with an apple device. But I hope it gets fixed soon since I'm sure it's not fun to see it not working. But then again it's just a game nothing to be so frustrated about.

Unfortunately, like having more than one account, providing false personal information is also against Facebook's TOS. You could, I suppose, mark your gaming friends as Restricted, but to play by the rules, you need to use only 1 account with your real name. I looked into creating a Page (authors with pseudonyms often have Facebook pages), but it appears that you can collect only followers or likes, not friends.

For me, Hay Day has always been about the relationships first, then the game. I started because it was a fun way for me and my sister, who is on the other coast, to keep in touch. Once she stopped playing, I joined a a wonderful neighborhood (Hi guys!). Game Center and Kik have allowed me to meet and get to know people outside of my neighborhood.

So, for all you brave souls who installed IOS 10, can you tell me how you invite GC friends through this "message" thing Apple was talking about? Is that something similar to text message, or it's just a kit that developer for each game have to plug in, and regular user cannot directly use to add friends?

I do have a FB account and I think it's linked to HD already (when I started playing HD, I remeber there was some "mission" to ask you connect to FB and reward you diamond). I don't want to add friends using that though. Also Chinese players cannot access FB at all, so I wonder how they would survive...

@BzyWombat- True, I started as an android player and didn't want to use my private facebook. But ah well it is what it is. Can't go back now.

I thought I would do some research on Apple responding to complaints about previous changes, and it turns out there's a firestorm going on right now. Apple is eliminating the headphone jack. Yeah, I didn't know that either. Here are three articles I found that clearly illustrate Apple's attitude. The first link in the first article leads to the second.

This quote is from the second article and what makes this post relevant:

@AngelX - If I didn't already have a Facebook account for keeping up with family & friends, I would consider opening one just to play Hay Day and my other game. I only have 14 carefully chosen Game Center friends & 2 of those are in my neighborhood.

That's a very good point. Seeing that Tencent owns SC now, it might be a good idea to start "discussing and planning" for that humongous market. I'm sure Tencent is thrilled with SC's proactiveness in all of this

Why is the GC add me thread still open?? Recent players posting there have no idea what's going on with GC and probably wondering why no one added them. Might as well shut that thing down.

Edit: The torch has been passed. It's not an Apple problem anymore. It's a developers' problem. Complain to SC, not Apple...
