While I agree with the two posts above and realize that this is a resource management game it would be nice if maybe we could just make axes and saws or better yet trees and bushes don't die. This has been requested for years, come on already.

Or at least make it so that dead shrubs decompose naturally . But this won't get added.

It's not the planting that is the issue - it's over-harvesting. There's nothing wrong with filling your farm with trees and bushes, if that's what you want. You just need to be careful that you don't harvest them if you don't have the tools to cut them down.

The exception to that is nectar bushes, as you have no control over the bees!

Indeed over-harvesting is the issue, and you can control bees. Just stop collecting the honey comb if you cannot sustain the Axes for the bushes.

They don't collect 24/7 by themselves, now do they? :P I just don't harvest if I don't need honey.

Sorry; I didn't make myself clear. Of course you don't have to send the bees (but I never have enough honey!) What I meant was that you can't control which nectar bush they use, whereas with all other plants you can choose which you harvest from.

I play a lot, I gather the honey as soon as it's ready. I never have enough honey/wax for the way I choose to play, I'd love *more* bees. For me, the optimum number of nectar bushes is 4. I only plant enough berries for my own use, not to sell.

I plant loads of trees but only harvest for my own use, never to sell.

Unless I'm planting 'all out' in anticipation of a visitor event, this system works for me & I don't end up with loads if dead trees/bushes I can't chop down.

I just use 6 nectar plants. When they are all white i will be helped. Once they are all white again, i replace them. Gives more control and works fastest.

And.... you don't have to harvest all 4 hives at once. You can harvest just one. 3 bees will get nectar and it is much slower.
