How do I fix this? And above all, how come it appears that no body else has this problem?

This is a resource management game, and saws/axes/trees/bushes are something that everybody needs to deal with. You are definitely not the only one with that problem, so don't let it get you frustrated. People have different ways of dealing with it, so find an approach that works for you. Here are some thoughts:
- I don't sell fruits/berries/etc in my shop as a way to raise coins. Unfortunately, "sell fruits and berries" is one of the most common answers for how to raise coins.
- I don't buy a new bush (or tree) until I take out a dead one. If you have fallen behind, maybe trying setting a goal of taking out two dead bushes before buying a new one. Yes, this means that you might have to go without the fruits/berries for a while.
- If you're low on axes, consider buying bush products as a way to avoid more dead bushes. Ditto for saws & trees. This only works if you can afford it. For example, right now my saws are dwindling so if I stumble across apples or olives I will buy them.
- Maybe some neighbors have extra axes. Right now I'm swimming in axes, yet have a dwindling supply of saws. But I have neighbors in the opposite situation so we can help each other out.
- SuperCell tweaks the drop rate from time to time. A system you figure out today might not work well after the next update. I find it keeps the game fresh when I have to adjust my habits, but others find it frustrating. Similarly, unlocking a new product might indirectly change the number of axes or saws that you need, so be prepared for that, too.
- Lastly, once you have figured out an approach you need to accept that it won't be immediate. If you have 100 dead bushes, and you set a goal of removing 2 each day, realize before hand that this means you'll need 50 days to clean up. At first it wont feel like you're making progress, but if you keep it at you'll eventually get there.

CattyCat,,, believe me,Ive seen far far worse, visited farms over level100 where EVERYTHING is dead.A long while ago I realised that if I didn't change how I played I would be facing the same problem.I spent some of my very precious diamonds & hired Tom for1 day on MY day off & worked the little tyke HARD,sent him for saws& axes ,as soon as he brought them
I chopped& sawed & sent him off again, when I had cleared all dead trees& bushes
I still sent for more.
By end I had a nice little stock of both, but I only bought what I knew I could chop down.harvestig crops, collecting from animals & doing town now means I have enough of both that I can plant what I choose, but I only harvest trees& bushes to make products, never sell mine in RSS or fill boat orders& I definitely don't let the visitors have any!!lol
Are you open to trading? I don't,but many do,go check trading threads. However you try to solve your problem I wish you good luck
Oh, others have this same dead plant problem.I see farms with lots of dead plants frequently.
I'll share a trick I used (copied from another post I made a few weeks ago) and it worked wonders for me:
Hire Tom for a day and have him fetch you just saws and axes. Collect 20-30. Don't use any. I found they will start falling more and slowly use them but never let them drop below 20 or 30 so they continue to fall.
I have found this to work and have a few hundred saws and axes now.
Oh and if you don't have diamonds you don't have to hire Tom. Ask NH friends or FB friends, check the paper or use the trading thread.
If you can't post and the forums are read-only, then the forums are now closed.
Come join the new unofficial Hay Day forum, we just got to 300 members! https://justhayday.boards.net/
While I agree with the two posts above and realize that this is a resource management game it would be nice if maybe we could just make axes and saws or better yet trees and bushes don't die. This has been requested for years, come on already.
Back in the old days, ha! Ha! When I was low levels, I had few trees, bushes and lots of axes and saws. After selling the excess, I started planting and harvesting more. Now, I have lots of trees and bushes. Yes, a bit overrun with axes at the moment. I harvest only as I need them. I make sure I do pets and town where I get the most dropped. Others wheat and harvest and sell for a period of time to collect them faster. But, the crazy thing was a new FB hoodie offering rupees for them but pooh, poohed the idea of spending that on diamonds and hiring Tom to catch up.
The hardest thing is to stop planting and harvesting for awhile, cleaning up your farm and not letting it get bad again. We all have done it, complained, got zip from HD and figured out how to keep it in check.
First of all, welcome CattyCat to the HD subforum. I experienced the above problem last year when I had more dead bushes than axes. While visiting other farms, I learned that the dead bushes may be used as fencing to subdivide the land. When I saved enough diamonds, I hired Tom to focus on getting axes and saws. After I disposed of the bushes, I replaced them with white picket fences.
Thank you ILH for the valuable tip. I'm a level 108 farmer and this is the first time I heard of it. Luckily, my axes and saws are around 30 to 40 and I get regular drops from feeding my pets and playing the Town.
Team Hay Day won't give us the above feature because it will diminish the revenue stream from farmers buying diamonds to hire Tom. Do you ever wonder why nectar bushes are priced so low at 120 coins? Some of us don't consider the additional cost of axes needed to dispose of the dead bushes. I got so much of them I had to expand land just to put the bushes out of sight in the corner.
Talk about albatrosses around my neck.![]()

Personally I find it mind boggling how so many players have massive dead forest style issues.
If you don't have the Axes & Saws to clear the dead stuff; stop planting and harvesting more. It really is that simple.
There is no point to a resource management game if the resources are not limited. That how the micro economy in Hay Day works; and makes SuperCell money.
To get out of the problem hire Tom, or organise to trade some barn/silo tools for a heap of Saws/Axes. Which you can do either here on the forum in the trade thread or with a hoodie. Almost all players will offer more Saws/Axes than your expansion tools. With say 20 Barn expansion items you could very well end up with 100 or more Saws/Axes.
For me, what ilovehayday wrote is the rule number one!I experienced it myself: when I had less than 10 of each, it was very difficult to get new ones and when I used my last axe (it was when my beehive tree got its third beehive) it was almost impossible to get axes! I stopped making honey and picking fruits and I refrained from chopping my dead bushes (when I finally got one, two axes) until I got 10 axes. Then I used then very carefully until I had 20. From the time when I got 20 axes and 20 saws they kept appearing in the town or when I harvest crops or feed animals. Now I have 50 of each, much more than I need!
So yes, this is THE rule. As soon as you get axes and saws, refrain from using them until you have at least 20 of them, and never let them drop below 20. (but 30 is better). It worked for me and I'm sure it will work for you, too!
I don't have the elephant on my farm, so I thought I'll have it on my signature. with eyes.
Play the town and soon you'll be wondering why you ever had a problem.
May sound simplistic, but obviously the drop rates set by ♥♥♥♥♥♥cell take into account all areas that you can get drops from: pets/animals, crops, toolboxes, and fully served townies. If there are areas you don't play, you diminish your ability to sustain what you are using/needing.
