Wheat. Hold as much as you can before filling RSS, making sure you have more wheat than anything else and sell to visitors. They give good coin for wheat. You will get lots of drop items from wheating. Don't be tempted to hold on to it. Sell whatever you truly don't need for max in RSS. I made a fortune in little time this way.
Yes the above replies are very good advice. I echo them to make everything you can on your farm and sell it all in your shop. Don't do trucks or even the town during the event, just make and sell. Grow and sell a lot if fruit -- wheating should give you enough saws and axes to keep your farm clear.
If you can, find someone on the trading thread who will buy EMs for well above max and sell EMs to them.

I used to sell off my entire barn every time I needed a new machine. I would stop doing boat and town and just make and sell at full price in my RSS. I'm a terrible saver and it might surprise you to know that at level 107 I only have 500'000 coins after buying the last two machines in the update. I can't help but shop in the DD and I have a very long gold path that has cost me millions!
berries, apples, cherries and all those kind of fruits, they sell quick and give a lot of coins, Also if you want you can make Jam and juice out of it and sell for even more.
The way I do it is ask my neighbour hood peeps if they have any saws or axes and just plant as much trees/bushes as saws and axes I got and everytime I get a new saw/axe i will plant a new bush/three.
