Question about DE upgrades (TH7)

So I know a guy who got his barb king to lvl 5 and minions/hogs to lvl 2 and all of his base maxed before going to TH8


My question is: Is it worth staying at TH7 DE farming with weaker troops when at TH8 you get stronger troops AND a passive DE collector.

The only advantage I see as a TH7 is-
-No one steals DE from a TH7
-Loot bonus gives you more DE.

Are those two reasons good enough for me to stay here at TH7, to max out barb king and minions? (screw hogs, that guy was crazy)

PS: Of course Im maxing out my base, I just have Lvl 2 teslas to upgrade to 3, my walls and Air defense. Should I go DE farming when Im done with all of my gold farming or just do both? Im currently using all my elixir to upgrade my rage spell, as all troops are maxed.

I farmed DE to do all of those upgrades while I get getting gold to upgrade all my walls.

IF I finished all my walls and everything else before DE upgrades I would have upgraded to hall 8 without them. But didn't turn out that way for me.

You're wrong about nobody stealing DE from a TH7, I got hit solely for my DE a number of times, even when I dropped to a lower range.

If you're that close to maxing your TH then don't bother, chances are you'll only get enough for one upgrade by the time you're done, if that. Just wait for stronger troops so you can hit higher levels who have more.

And I hear pretty often that the DE drill is pretty useless until L3, can't confirm though as I haven't bothered to make it yet.

Go th8. I didn't bother at th7 to max bk (I did minions). Personally if I had another account I would just not bother with anything related to de apart from build a storage at th7. Th8 has so much better de loot its unbelievable. It's a difference in matchmaking, quite often at 1500+ trophies I find a de storage on the outer layer of a base, just begging to be attacked by archers and giving me 900 de.

One of the nice things about lingering a bit longer at TH7 is the 50% loot bonus you get for attacking TH9s. This loot bonus applies to DE as well, and I was able to use dragon-heavy armies to get lots of gold and DE from premie TH9s.

You lose this loot bonus when you to TH8, and there just aren't as many premature TH10s (yet) to loot from. Not saying the loot is bad at TH8, but it nots a good as it was at the tail end of TH7, thanks mostly to that 50% loot bonus.

I can vouch for that, it seemed to be a total waste of space until I got it to L3.

One thing to consider, there are quite a few weak TH9 & TH10 with plenty of DE around 1,500 to 1,700.

Being TH7 you get a huge loot bonus for attacking them.

As soon as you step up to TH8 you lose about 50% of the available DE when attacking a TH9.

So yes, I think it's a lot easier to farm DE at TH7 because you can pick on the weak bases and ignore the strong ones, or just lightning them.

Good move, but from my own experience don't stress about getting the last bits, if everything else is done and dusted and your gold and elixer stores are going to max out... you've got a long time waiting for your town hall to upgrade, so have a guess as to how much more DE work you can get done once you've hit "go", as well as other upgrades... It will be a pretty boring week if you are just waiting for the TH upgrade, with full stores and nothing to upgrade, just waiting to be raided over and over...

Personally, I planned everything meticulously, with an aggressive yet acheivable plan for upgrading everything in minimal time, with no free builders... but in the end I couldn't get the 5th level of King done, I never did minions, and got to TH8 with only half-full stores, and of course there's a heap of building work to get started at TH8! Yes, the loot bonus was amazing at TH7, and I had so much fun looting DE right up to 1800 cups. But with TH8 I got King level 5 done pretty soon after, and so on, up to level 9, without even trying really, the DE just rolled in as a natural part of my raiding, I didn't ever go DE hunting as a TH8. And now, with a load of troop (and defense) upgrades yet to do, I've already got minions to level 3, and King to level 9.

There's a heap of time to be spend at TH8, more than you may realise until you get partway into it, so yes it's well worth trying to max out your base while the loot from TH7 is the best it will ever be, but don't stress about maxing it 100%, just get as close as feasible and keep it fun. TH8 will, once you get some basic troop upgrades done, also be fun, there will still be plenty of loot, and TH8 will kjeep you busy for a long time regardless, there's just so much more to build and/or upgrade there!
