Hate the new chat format!

SC didn't learn from their mistake on changing the chat order in BB and CoC. They should've known many players would dislike the reversal and made it optional. Last message on top is used by all other games I play, that have a chat/messageboard feature.

My nbh. will have to do without their leader on chat, as I've just disabled it in the settings.

This may be in our future then as well. It make take another small update, but apparently it can be done.

I can't stand the new chat. It's horrible. I can't make that known loud enough. Awful. Please fix it back the way it was or at the very least switch it to read from top to bottom. Good gravy. It was fine before. If the new guy needed a project, why give him the chat to mess with? Could have had him put the soup kitchen back to non-Barbie status.

Rant over now. Sorry about the multiple postings. I'm feeling a bit snippy on this subject. I will try to restrain myself for the rest of the day. <insert shrugging shoulders emoji>

I hear what ur saying, K. People will probably reluctantly get used to it (what other choice do they have?) and I don't for one second expect SC to go back to the original chat. But it's just another one of those unnecessary changes SC tend to tinker with. Chat's been out for how long now? HD players have been used to this set up. I don't recall anyone disliking the previous chat system. The only major complaint with chat was the filter system of censored words. Why even mess with it? This is a completely different demographic of players from CoC and BB, not everything should mirror SC's other games. Fix things that needs to be fixed. Stay away from things that don't need fixing.

The whatsapp reasoning is pretty weak, IMO.

HS -- don't you recall when the NH chat it was introduced? PEOPLE HOWLED about how intrusive it was, how annoying the little red numbers were, how it changed the game, how they hated the help notifications in chat, etc etc etc.

All that calmed down eventually.

I will admit that in the old chat I HATED that I could not change typos without deleting all the way back to the typo. My lovely neighbors grew to recognize my typo patterns, so they could read perfectly the most astonishing gibberish -- LOL. This new chat lets me scroll around the chat message to fix errors. I LOVE THAT!

I do wish the New chat window was larger -- bifocals, ya know.

After one typing day, I'm getting used to it, yet I don't like it. I don't mind the bouncing anymore, but messages are so tiny! I can barely see what I'm going to write..

different demographic, exactly. Some of us are too old to read such miniscule script.

Anyone knows if it's possible and how to disable the native keyboard?
I play in a different language than my native and write in the chat has become a real mess.

Chances are your device let's you add keyboards in different languages. Check the keyboard settings for in your device.

It may be a different demographic but their reasoning for changing it are similar across the game. And demographic or not people generally dislike such changes. I do understand what you're saying, it worked fine so why change. In Clash for example it's now possible to copy Tags and paste in clan chat. I don't think copying NH Tags is possible just yet who knows it maybe in future.

It is definitely possible now to paste things in clan chat copied from elsewhere outside the game. If for example you want to link a website or address to an outside chat app or whatever you want to paste in there text wise. Then there's the possibility to edit text somewhere in the beginning instead of wiping the whole line to fix something in the first or second word. That's definitely new and couldn't be done in the old chat system.

Obviously everyone one is more then welcome to share their opinion on this but what I meant to do is to set a realistic expectation that there's a good chance it's here to stay. Just give it a month or so and chances are it won't be an issue anymore and people are used to it.

For me reading a chat history from the top in an downward direction actually feels more naturally now as its more similar to reading any kind of text.

While I hate the new chat, it is hardly the worst thing. In fact I am betting soon nobody will notice for the simple reason that for the past months players have been quitting in droves. Pretty soon there will be nobody left to chat with... besides talking to Support

This is the ONLY game I play that has this reverse chat. It is so AWFUL. for one thing, the ...box interferes with the cash register box.

As I pointed out in another thread about this, now the scroll direction is in line with other chat apps, like SMS, WhatsApp etc. You will get used to it.

It is not in line with FB. It is not in line with Twitter.

More importantly, the box IS in line with the cash register which is always getting hit instead of the chat.
