From what I have learnt, yes dragons are useless after th8, as they only get used as a defensive troop.
The complaint is dragons are stupid as they will target closest building, sometimes circle an ad.
The current answer is to funnel, which doesn't always work, or to use other troops, agreeing that dragons become pointless the higher th you are.
The suggetion is that the 1 dragon that is being attacked goes for the building attacking it. This lowers the need for early attack funneling and aids dragon attacks in the later stage. This does not mean all drag rush over and obliterated the ad, only the 1 being wrecked by the ad does. This would suggest that you would only need 2 dragons per ad, 0.5 per archer and wizard tower, which fits into an ultimate attack at th8. Team that up with another dragon or loons in cc and you could probably take some low th9s.
At th10 the idea fades more, as 8 dragons would target a multi-target inferno and destroy the centre of the base, however it would be interesting against a single-target inferno. It would probably be 1 dragon for an air xbows too.
Another concern with this is how splash damage defences will be handled, as the already weak wizard tower would summon multiple dragons at a time, and dissappear in a breath. And the same for the Eagle artillery, which would likely splash on the non targeted dragons making them charge towards that.
Personally I think a possible way to make drags better would be to make them 19 spaces instead of 20. This would mean the same number of dragons, but with a few back up troops like loons to handle the ad which didnt fall.

This is just stupid. If you funnel correctly, you can get them in the middle. Maybe watch dragon tutorials.
Yes, they do get useless later, but they're still powerful. I guess adding hitpoints and damage per second by 10 or 20% for lvl4+ dragons or lvl6 dragons.

COC New Troop: Volt
Nothing will ever work without good details. So stop making one sentence fragments for a new troop. Also, if your idea has no details, I will be rude and yell at you to look at the guides and the ruled out posts.
I was thinking that maybe dragons would head in the direction of what's hitting them but still attack everything along the way
Dragons are not stupid, but are completely reliable in always doing completely predictable things.
Dragons are never useless. The are great in CCs. They are great anti CC defense, and great anti defense Queen. Ther are great behind lavahounds, you can have too many balloons.
The only reason they are hardly used at high TH levels is because all air attacks are too weak. It is too easy to make anti-air, anti lavaloon bases.
That is not my experience. They may be slow to retarget, but if a troop shoots a dragon, the dragon will fixate onto that troop.
Maybe you didn't notice that lots of troops just shot that dragon, and that it fixated on a different troop to the one you were thinking of. Or it fixated on a troop that something else killed before the dragon breathed, and you see the dragon do nothing. Dragon retargetting to the troop that attacked it is most easily seen with the AQ.
Dragons are supposed to be a support troop. Support your dragons with giants balloons or golems
Hey 'about' dragon attacking defences which attacks it is similar to a giant
For example I put a dragon on a side ,it was attacked by an archer tower so it moves to the archr twr ,now its getting attacked by more defences so it moves there . o technically the dragon would be a defence specific op troop
