Hmm this is weird, thought it would work.

Right so basically I relocated my base to a corner on the field, it is a rectangular shape and it is in the corner such that two sides are joined to the sides of the field.

So, is it possible for enemy troops to attack via the unguarded sides, i.e the sides connected to the field?

I had initially thought this would/should work, but was proven wrong.

Aha I realised, luckily haven't been three star'd, defended one hit but lost a bit of resources, all good.

One more question, if I upgrade clan castle to level 2, am I able to station troops inside it on my own (after creating my own clan) or do I have o be rely on someone else to send me some?

Someone else needs to load your CC

You might want to join a clan first and check it out. At your level it will be hard to start a clan and gain members. Give it a shot! If you don't like the clan, you can leave easily enough.
