What about this. You just got accepted to collage and have tons of finals. You decide to take a break from games to study. BAM kicked out. vacations too

We have had those situations. For regular clan members, we held their spot & waited for them to return.... even months. As a leader, when I took a break I put a co as leader.
Even if a leader decides not to temporarily give his position to another, all he/she needs to do is log in once in 30 days, a total of a minute or two, to be considered active. You can do that during a bathroom break. If he/she can not even do that then perhaps the clan isn't that importart to that person. It's not an unreasonable request. Again, try and consider the entire clan please.

Actually, the clan wasn't really given away. The idea, as mentioned, was to take a break & see how things would go with the game & whether we wanted to give it another chance. The "drone" account was left so the clan would not be totally lost, as I have mentioned. With that idea, someone agreeing with it quickly made the drone. At the time since he already made it instead of me doing it, it seemed acceptable. Therefore, it either a case of misplaced trust or he simply quit the game or, God forbid, something happened to him.
As I also said, we don't care who gets the leader so long as the clan isn't dead. No animosity. No power struggle. No one wanting to steal someone else's clan.
I still believe the thread is about an honest & reasonable suggestion.
I was in a clan for which this suggestion would have helped.
The player who started the clan had two accounts with very similar names. Let's call them TomA and TomB. (The actual names were longer, and looked even more similar.) TomA was the leader.
TomB was a just-for-fun baby account, and he made the mistake of never linking it to Google Play or the iOS Game Center. The device on which he played TomB broke. Now he can't access that account any more. So far no big deal, it was a low-level account in which he was never emotionally invested. But he made a second mistake and never kicked TomB from the clan.
When he went to visit another clan, he gave Leader from TomA to a co-leader, who when he returned goofed and gave Leader back to TomB instead of to TomA.
I am sure the player could contact Supercell and resolve the issue. He owned both devices, knows their make and model, knows he never spent money on the TomB account, etc. He has not because so far it has not been a problem to have an inactive account as clan leader.
But the problem would have been avoided with a clan setting of:
After the Leader is inactive for 30 days
(a) do nothing
(b) make highest-donation Co-Leader into Leader
(c) make highest-trophy Co-Leader into Leader

Losing leader position basically means the clan is dead or going to die. I am confused why so many people don't even want to consider the possibility of demoting an inactive leader. 'Find a new clan' is a terrible argument. My clan is mostly formed by people that have been in the clan since the start. If I fall into a coma should all my friends just find a new clan and abandon all the time and effort we put in to get to clan lvl 7?
davidvs brings up an interesting point. If an inactive member who has already not logged on for a long time gets lead how would the game handle it? Start a 30 day timer? Give a warning message? Not let you transfer leader to an inactive acnt? Issues like this are why this kind of thing is not easy to code.
Putting in a voting system either after a set duration of inactivity or all the time would probably take too much effort to code and be cumbersome, not really fitting into the game. Highest donation/trophies auto promote seems like the easiest answer but if you joining the clan gives some kind of time stamp then I would suggest co leader who has been in the clan the longest and has the most invested in the clan.
[re: davidvs & soulean] I am happy to see that there are some people who don't automatically assume the dark side: the worst in people. Not everything is a conspiracy. Thanks guys for seeing this for what it is. It is a breath of fresh air to not have to defend myself as though I am being accused of being Satan's child of mobile games. Again people, please don't look at these threads as a potention witch hunt, but as something coming from actual concern & desire to make the game better. Try and look at them as something other than some whiner trying to vent. Thanks. Good to hear comments from people actually getting the point and the spirit in which it was written. Thanks again,.
