    Well it figures

For years modders held an advantage over legit players by being able to practice their attacks on war bases, people complained about it and FINALLY SC evened the playing field by creating Friendly Challenge...and what happens? People complain and cry about it, before it's even released mind you, and SC implements the quickest nerf in history (pre release nerfs ftw!!!)

    GG

FC wasn't made to even the playing field by letting everyone practice, hence the fix to prevent that.

That practice is actually practice on attacking bases, and not for use on the enemys war bases, which is what modders do.

That statement made no sense at all. Practice attacking bases...but not war bases....

Come on now, why else would supercell want people to "practice". The whole point of practicing is to achieve a positive outcome for a given situation.

This whole 24 hour thing won't even allow you to test bases and modify then based on the results of the practice run...

Yes it will. You can create multiple layouts, all with slightly different trap locations, wall layouts, etc, and test them all. Make changes, test again in 24hrs.

You haven't mentioned that this is infinitely more useful than the current situation where you put the base out into the wild and hope to be attacked by a competent attacker utilising the "correct" army composition.

You're mistaking general practicing of strategies and attack types (what FC is supposed to be) with direct simulation of a specific attack. In the latter it removes quite literally ALL skill from warring and simply puts the victory in someones lap who has more time to "practice" (simulate) their attack repetitively. FC wasn't intended to allow people to simulate war attacks until they cracked a base but rather to allow you to, without cost, learn new attacking strategies and test out theories and base building ideas.
We're not ALL nice... No doot aboot it!

Practice different attack strategies, not attacks against specific bases that you are currently facing. In the follow-up announcing the changes to FC, Anoushka said "What makes Clan Wars exciting is the pressure of getting an attack right the first time. Using the new feature to endlessly practice attacks would replace one-shot attacking skill with endless, grindy repetition." So, what you are asking for is specifically not what was intended.
