Wow clash was just getting better with last update after stopping mod but now this... It's pretty much modding in the game smh.. Why put bans out and stop modding if your gunna have a update like this right after?

Well, your opinion is that it will be a hammering, i think you're wrong. Even in the time before the bans when cheating was rampant, my clan hardly ever encountered a modding clan...or at least that's what our experience is.
Using the Friendly Battle option to sandbox seems overly complicated and very time consuming. Hardly something that will be picked up by everyone, so i really don't see the "hammering". Consequently, no devastation of war match-ups
What you deem as proper fair play is irrelevant, as you don't determine the rules, SC does. If the Friendly Battle option turns out to be (somewhat) usable for sandboxing, this option is sanctioned and fair, thus not cheating by definition.
I do understand you don't like this, but fortunately you have the choice to play or not. You however do not get to set the rules.
PS i don't know if i like it myself, but that's not the question atm.
In general, I like the idea but I'm very, very worried about it's implementation. Wars are meant to be competitive based upon skill but this could open the door to wars being decided by those who have the most time on their hands to practice and not the most skill. I know the bases aren't exactly the same due to hidden stuff and defense levels but you can get a pretty good idea of routing...and general attack approach.
I will wait and see but i'm cautiously optimistic.
Who in there right mind has read all 1976 posts?
Most people are of the opinion as this is what wars will become. You are also correct - if this goes sour then I hang out my village, I already stated this when it was announced earlier.
Interestingly I think dizzlmcwizzl has the most workable idea. There will still be the people who go to any lengths but it will be a much reduced problem similar to the levels before.
Also as your clan becomes more maxed with bases you encounter modders more - we have seen our fair few. It was becoming rampant before the ban hammer came down.

Level 149: TH10 - 1116 stars and counting. 35/31 Heroes.
Level 105: TH8 - 1145 stars - Level 7 BK
Invictus Inc. - #YYCLGLY - Level 10 Clan
In your village, jackin' yo' loot.
Valks for life.
Some person posted the idea of friendly battles, on his post lots of people agrees of his idea.
But when the sc staff announces friendly battles, bunch of people are complaining![]()
This update is great. Intra clan tournaments will be awesome. No more dividing the clan in half and trying to get a match.
And to the complainers, if someone wants to take a base that got mostly destroyed, try to replicate in over an hour of work, and then stay online so their clanmates can endless practice, more power to them. There are so many steps most former modders who had it easy before won't do that. And if they do, that's how they chose to spend their time. I would rather get another beer than do that.
anyway, the whole "skill" claim is ridiculous. It's like you want every war to have the exact same bases at the same levels.
I don't love this new feature. I don't want to spend hours practicing to hit a particular war base, I want to be able to do my war attack based on my skills and what I've learned from my clan mates attacks.
I do want to practice my attacks and Jake has come up with the best option I've heard. He suggested that you can attack enemy and friendly war bases after a war has finished.
Its easily to caught xmodders ♥♥♥♥
Since the are calling it "sandbox" mode.
Competitions? There should be some sort of prize system to make it more interesting or even better, make an "internal clan war", like setting up factions inside a clan that could clash between themselves and the winner faction can decide the clan leader between themselves (instead being changed or set up like an admin).
