    New Troop Idea: Pyrotechy (images)

Everyone knows the wizard is one of the most important troops in the game, being used in nearly every attack from TH5 to TH11. But I'm suggesting a new clean up troop, with both pros and cons over the wizard.

    Introduction
The new troop I am proposing here is called the Pyrotechy, for his great knowledge of Pyrotechnics. He is similar to the wizard, but different in a few key ways. The Pyrotechy has a much larger radius for splash damage, but has a slower attack speed; The Pyrotechy has less hit points, but slightly more damage; And the Pyrotechy is Dark Elixir, while the Wizard is Elixir.

"Cousin to the wizard, the Pyrotechy has magicked up his fireworks to do the most damage possible."

    Statistics
The Pyrotechy is a high-damage, low HP troop, as you can see in his statistics below.
Fav target Attack type Housing space Train time Movement speed Attack speed Dark Barrack level req Range
    None Area splash (3 tiles*, Air & Ground) 6 6 min 16 3 sec 7 4.5 tiles
*Will be explained in next paragraph
Level DPS DPA HP Train cost Research cost Lab level Research time
    1 95 284 95 200 N/A N/A N/A
    2 104 312 105 250 45,000 7 10 days
    3 115 344 115 300 90,000 8 14 days
    4 126 378 126 350 120,000 9 18 days
The Pyrotechy has less HP than the average wizard available when it is unlocked (lvl 5/6), but has more DPA. This, partnered with its splash radius of 3 tiles means that it won't take very long for Pyrotechy to take out grouped buildings. However, it is pretty weak with its HP, and it has a slow attack speed, so it should not be as OP otherwise.

    Strategies
I do not believe the Pyrotechy would replace wizards in higher Town Halls, but it would reduce the usage of one of the most versatile and usable troops. The main thing Pyrotechy would be better than wizards for is a base with a lot of grouped items or shooting over wall-space-wall items, with up to 2 spaces in between walls. However, in close bases with spread items, wizards would still be better.

    Attacking
Some attacking strategies I can think of include GoVaPyro, GoWiPyroPe, and GoHoPyro, athough more strategies could be added for specific bases. GoVaPyro would work well because of Pyrotechies large range, and grouped damage, to assist Valks in destroying strong buildings and hitting buildings with spaces between them. For GoWiPyroPe, it would be a regular Gowipe with about 5-6 Pyrotechies in for wizards. This gives it a bigger range, and can add large multi-building damage. For GoHoPyro, Pyrotechies would be much better than wizards, as they would be able to reach more distances and take out the Town Hall easier, and grouped outside buildings.

    Clan Castle
The Pyrotechy would be quite good in Clan Castles for grouped Giants, or Wizards, as it has large splash damage, and does pretty significant damage with each hit. Wizards would be one-shotted by Pyrotechies, along with minions and other tier 1 troops. However, very spread out wizards would also be able to one-shot Pyrotechy, as they have faster attack speeds.

    Defending
Defending against Pyrotechy would essentially be the same as defending against wizards. If tanking units begin to hit a mortar, the mortar would retarget the Pyrotechies, and a few hits could take them out. Having many compartments would slow down tanks enough to be killed, and then Pyrotechies would die quickly. Having the Town Hall on the opposite side of where channelling would be good, because the Pyrotechies range can reach 6 tiles away from it, so channeling the Pyrotechy away from the Town Hall would help defend it. Making a base designed to lure tanks in a separate direction from Pyrotechies would expose them to damage. Placing traps where Pyrotechies would channel would also help take them out.

    Miscellaneous
Graphics (may be improved if needed):

-5 Pyrotechies would fit in a max TH10 Clan Castle.
-Maxed army camps could hold 40 Pyrotechies.
-A Pyrotechies shot would look like a firework whizzing off at its target, before exploding on the ground

Please vote on how good this idea is, and comment what to improve.

Three rings for the Elven kings under the sky, seven for the Dwarf lords in their halls of stone, nine for mortal Men doomed to die, one for the Dark Lord on his dark throne, in the land of Mordor where the shadows lie. One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them, One ring to bring them all, and in the Darkness bind them, in the land of Mordor where the shadows lie.

I appreciate the detail of the thread, but I'm finding this unit to be flawed in too many parts:

For one, I never like to see any unit description suggesting similarities with already-existing troops, as it defeats the uniqueness to both its name and ability.

More damage than a wizard, similar speed, and more AOE damage: With more damage and similar speed this will almost immediately replace wizards, and will completely replace the Bowler with the wide 3tile splash damage.

For a troop of 6HS with an Attack Speed of 3s, I would say the HP is very low, and may not even be viable in any composition. Yes, I'm aware this troop absolutely needs tanks, but this troop is hardly able to defend itself.

Organization was fine, but the actual idea and statistics wasn't good enough; I do not think we need a troop that is similar to other troops or one that can potentially replace others.

Overall, I'm afraid I do not like this idea. I do not want to see a wizard/Bowler kind of troop. I realize he can be used in different situations, but Bowlers or wizards and EQ's together are able to do the same amount of damage and effect.

I don't think this idea will work, but thank you for sharing

Ben, please don't comment on other peoples posts just suggesting your own ideas. Make a new thread. @Jaronhudson, I get your opinion, but either we need a new wizard-like troop (basically a high-damage cheap clean up troop), or we need some serious re-balancing of the bowler.

I LOVE that image . But the actual troop itself is kind of iffy... Try making it LESS like a wizard and MORE of a crazy troop to have. Example: Make the projectiles like the Grenadier on Boom Beach: SUPER INACCURATE and DANGEROUS. That way, new strategies will bloom and there will be a lot more CHAOS!

    Otherwise, keep going!

Thanks TheRoyaleClasher for the Avatar and thecoolkyle for my awesome sig.

Hmm, what if its favourite target was "Anything but defences"? This would mean it would keep mowing down those regular buildings, but doing everything it can to avoid hitting defences.
