Private messaging in clash of clans

I know it's been ruled out but I agree that it would be nice. Most of my clan won't bother communicating with a separate app, as a clan leader this would be a very useful feature.

Agreed. My clan had all ages, some don't even use Facebook, let alone some sort of separate IM app. Id be all for it but could also see it being abused by some of the less civilized players to harass players they dont like in private. Probably would end up causing more trouble than its worth.

Of course, you are correct, that's the issue. A few will always ruin it for the rest, that's why we can't have nice things.

Allow private messages as one way communication then, only by leaders and coleaders. Or both ways if its between coleader and another coleader or leader.

Ye if it was between coleaders then there wouldn't be any abuse in it of players that the leaders don't like

I would just add it with clan chat and global, then nobody gets annoyed at global's removal

Coc has one of the worst chat features available in a game that is all about groups or clans. "Whispering" or private communications, a separate chat for officers, better chat typing features, a bigger chat screen.. All theses are available in other games, and do make the experience better. Although of all of the above, I think whispering would be the last thing Coc adds, as it can be abused and isn't an essential feature for the game since there are no group hits or ways of sabotaging others as in war games.

Looks like I was wrong, I can't see it in the ruled out list. A separate co/elder chat is in the ruled out list.

The potential for abuse would probably mean this would not be implemented though.

Yes I would also like to have a communication feature added in game too.

I can understand why any reasonable person would think player-to-player chat would be a good idea. It's useful and it resolves those awkward moments where you want to help or correct someone but you don't want to do it in front of others. (That's one of the reasons we use an outside chat app - Groupme). However, an experienced internet user would understand how quickly it will be abused by unreasonable people. People are just awful to one another on the internets. The pragmatist in me says that I wouldn't want Supercell to take on the massive undertaking necessary to manage p2p chats, policing, reprimanding, banning, and dealing with all the fall out. I'd rather they stay focused on the game. I imagine they, too, would be very reluctant to take on such a responsibility.

However, even if I can't convince you that it would be a bad business move for Supercell, I bet I can convinced you that an outside chat app will always be better than in-game chat. Here's what I can do with ours:

. Accessible when game on maintenance break
. Accessible when forced into personal break time
. Accessible when device is in user or unavailable
