I believe this is legit. It is possible to get to masters just by sniping townhalls. See khalid from the clan NYC Bashers for example.

lol it's pretty embarrassing how everyone acted in retrospect (i never saw this topic originally). It was probably pretty frustrating for the OP when no one believed him
I just recently saw a TH6 in Master's, and everyone knows about the TH7 who got to Champ league. So TH7 in master's is no longer "that" impressive, especially with trophy inflation.
There actually was a town hall 5 and a few 6s that have made master. In a thread called the top of each town hall it shows who has the most trophies for each town hall. So it is possible.
I see no reason not to believe him.
I went to a range of ~2349 as a pure TH sniper a while ago. (with level 4 and level 3 troops back then).
He went a little higher. Before doing so, I had never even passed the 1250 range...I started when I was very maxed out TH6 with a TH8 being built. (I 'skipped' TH7 unfortunately and built the TH8 directly after TH7 was finished). I went bankrupt then in Crystal II pressing next and next and next and next and had to stop, as it was so hard to find townhalls outside.
It was a very good experience nevertheless.
If somebody tries it, make sure you take some millions of gold with you on that journey.
