Ever been in a clan which dies?
Ever been in a clan, then left, then looked back to see that it has died?
I'm fairly sure most of us have. A dead clan is a bit of a waste of space in the game and fills up a lot of space in the clan search results. By dead clan, I mean, of course, a clan which has members but in which no one is active.
Here are my two suggestions - both of which need refining. If they have been suggested before, please point me in the direction of the threads and I'll comment there.
1. There should be some mechanism for allowing active members to take over clans whose leaders are inactive.
This serves two purposes. Firstly, this keeps the clan leadership engaged in the clan. Secondly, it allows inactive clans to be taken over by anyone in the game. Players returning to a previous clan can then do something about that clan's death or Players who wish to set up new clans can take over an existing dead clan and get a jump up in terms of war EXP etc. It would also reduce the number of inactive clans in the game.
2. There should be a method by which clan members can stage a coup of the leader and take ownership of the clan for themselves.
Clan leadership is dictatorial in CoC. There is nothing you can do about a clan leader who is ruining your clan.
I appreciate that this is a rather large development, but it would add another interesting layer of the game and support the first suggestion in this thread. If clan leaders want a dictatorial clan (not open to challenge) then perhaps a setting can be introduced - a setting which could then be used in the clan search. I know that this suggestion would also be open to abuse (hoards of barbarians roaming about and destroying clans) but I still feel that this would make the game more interesting.
Clearly both of these are high level suggestions and functional design will need thinking through, but I'll put it out there for now to see if anyone has suggested in the past (and had it dismissed) or to see the flaws in my ideas.
