i agree with the idea of limiting the 'last helper' tab to less than 2 weeks. 24 hrs sounds like a reasonable amount. personally i never check it. i often 'help' people with revives for derby task or just to get my 5 'thank you notes' a day, but i don't appreciate that this lets someone track / stalk me for 2 weeks.
i've had a few instances of people 'stalking' my RSS and purchasing, particularly blankets. i have some good 'game friends' - they're not in my NH and i've never spoken to them - but i buy from them and vice versa every day, we have a nice thing worked out it seems. it's a little frustrating when someone buys stuff i put up for them or hood mates, just because i watered their plants 13 days ago...
Well I'm one that thinks complaining about followers and helpers raiding/stalking is whining.
Ability is in players hands as they make choices throughout the game. In this case, delete followers daily and don't help outside your nh. Don't take help tasks if your hood can't fulfill. Just love help tasks but you're in a small hood, move to a big one. Ok, you don't want to move but do want to help anyway, don't fill your shop. And you can always accept that the helps and the shops are what they are and accept how they function. Or do nothing and whine because the game isn't operating how you like.
This all strikes me similar to those whining for more axes and saws. It's usually people plant trees for coins. Oh but I hate the town. Wheating is boring. No way I'm gonna use diamonds on Tom. Whaa! Give me more axes and saws!
Personally, I've never liked boats or trucks. But when I wanted all the pets and voucher decos I adjusted my game. Cause that's how ya get vouchers. Followers and helps, thats how ya get raiders. Which, excepting a few rare loopholes (which should be closed), all players have the ability to prevent.
I do agree with some of what you say here.
Here is what I found:
We had a farmer here who was really distraught over a former hood mate. There was apparently no way that they should have been able to see this person. The farmer wanted to delete the game and start over because it was so bad.
I joined the offending hood with my daughter's farm, met the person, but it was curt. A full hood with no chat. I helped a few, but not the "offender". There were no thank yous, I found one person right before I left who said it was "quiet right now". It was weird. I stayed for about 10 hours total, but then I left, not expecting anything out of it and seeing the whole thing as a mistake.
Well, lo and behold, there he was, in my shop buying everything (veggies) constantly! At first it did not really bother me much as that farm was not used much. After a while, I found it quite disturbing, as he was not a follower, not a last helper. I don't know how he saw me, how he could access me. I could not delete him because I could not see him.
Now, I can empathize! What kind of person gets their thrills by doing this is beyond me. The lack of control upset me more than I expected.
I know this kind of situation is rare, but it does happen.

While I do agree that everything in the RSS is fair game.
The thing I don't understand is how the game does quite a good job of 'protecting' your shop in other aspects of the game.
*Neighbours can buy from you, you have the choice to leave the neighbourhood.
*Friends can buy from you, you have the choice to remove friends.
*Randoms can only buy from you only if you had an ad placed, once the item if purchased you are removed from the paper in less than 2 minutes.
*Followers can buy from you, you have the choice to remove followers.
*Randoms cannot search your neighbourhood or player tag and buy from you.
*You can now even block players using the friend book.
And yet, the game allows someone you helped 2 weeks ago free access to your shop and you have no ability to stop it.
That's why players are annoyed by it, every other aspect of the game gives you control over your shop. Last Helpers does not.

That's because it hasn't happened to you. Count your blessings.
After you have someone that latches onto you and buys every SINGLE thing you ever put in your shop, 24/7, within seconds of you putting it up, for days or weeks on end, making it impossible for you to ever trade BEMs or SEMs with anyone and impossible to give anything to any of your neighours, followers, or in-game friends, then come back and tell us how much fun youre having with Hay Day.
I had it happen to me a year ago and until that time I would not have believed it was possible for some whacko to be that vindicively obsessed with stalking a shop. This chick was always on, so I think it was her second farm and she just kept it open to my farm all the time. She couldn't have been playing her own game because she was constantly, and I do mean constantly, in my shop. Whenever she saw any item posted she would tap-tap-tap every box with what I assume were all the fingers on both of her hands, making it impossible for anyone else to get an item. Once in a while I would throw some full priced wheat and hats and tofu dogs in there to try to discourage. Didn't matter, she just bought it all because she knew eventually there would be some bem or sem or premium foods she could grab.
It's horrible to have someone like that latch onto you. Completely demoralizing to have someone play through you as if you're their personal feeder farm. The only thing you can do is to quit, or significantly slow down, your own play. And that sucks.

You also need to take into consideration that some people are practising this activity without being a friend/follower. Otherwise, I would have just deleted him. I never helped him. I don't know how he still accessed my shop. He never helped me. I was trying to get him to revive a plant to friend him and block him.
I can only assume it was historic chat after I left the hood, but how long would that last?
It does suck.

The more I read about these "stalkers" the more I think I'd like to have one for awhile.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not making light of the fact that it clearly upsets some people.
Im just one of those who wants to make lemonade when life gives me lemons. And I do like to change my style of play frequently anyway.
I think it would be fun to see just how many crates of full priced wheat, indigo or tofu dogs they would buy. Even if I couldn't grow wheat fast enough, although I'm pretty sure I could, I can find cheap wheat in the paper and mark it up to max.
I think your neighbours would understand if you're currently playing a different kind of challenge. And if they want something specific from you, you can communicate with them, use the wheat method and have a high probability that they will get what you intentionally post for them. Apart from that there is also the donation box.
Sometimes life, and sometimes Hay Day requires a bit of innovation. Why not enjoy the challenge?
