I'm not comparing the two things, I am using an example to demonstrate the fallacy of your argument. You (barnsley1010) have said that people do not have to take responsibility for the way that they behave as it is all SCs fault. That is the same logic a wife beater uses, that it is not their fault.

I guess there is a comparison there after all, because the underlying denial of any personal responsibility is the same.
And yet you fail to enlighten us still on why the forum is now toxic, versus what what once a panacea of virtue presumably. Your argument is essentially nature vs. nurture. Well I don't buy your argument. SC creates the environment and people respond to it. Change the environment and you'll chnage the response of the people. Check out how prisons work and how useful they are at rehabilitating criminals (not).

Yeah, you never came back to help me expand my English vocab, so sad.

That was a fun troll thread, really no need to overreact in such a dramatic way.

Nice quality flounce, OP. But GASPs - isn't this where you come in and tell the OP to just adapt or quit quietly? You're missing your cue.

How is my argument nature vs nurture? These are community forums, we as the community create the environment, as holps stated in the OP.

Prison can be successful at rehabilitation, check the Scandinavian statistics. Sweden closed some prisons a few years ago due to falling numbers, at a time when the UK was running out of capacity. Given politicians who wish to pander to populist notions of law and order to gain votes rather than actually do something to resolve the situation, I don't see our rehabilitation rates improving.

My explanation of why the forum is toxic is because of people's unreasonable expectations, lack of common courtesy and decency, over inflated senses of their own importance and entitlement and inability to think rationally - pretty much what is happening in society as a whole.

    Sad but True

A post about the negativity of the forum dissolving into negativity - sad commentary on the forum state and a very large exclamation point on Holps sentiments. I do not post much but I have been around this forum for a couple of years. In the early days, this was a great place to go for advice and discussion; threads were full of farming advice, attack strategies, upgrade discussions, etc. Unfortunately, most of those discussions as well as most of the major contributors have disappeared. I spend very little time here now since I find there is very little constructive discussion and I find I get pulled into the negativity and anger that permeates most of the threads until I myself become guilty of the same things that makes the forum a much less pleasant place. Sad to see a good forumer leave but I wish you the best.

P.S. I have always loved the signature - one of my favorite movie one-liners.

    Hey there.

I'm not telling anyone who's already quit to adapt or quit. That's not the point. The GASPS and mods are here to make this place more enjoyable for others, so we help and do stuff that a lot wouldn't bother with, and sure we make our mistakes, but I completely respect the OP's decision to quit the forums. It is a different place now, and as we try to make it better, some would rather just avoid it. If I came to this forum TODAY without seeing it before I don't think I would bother with it most likely, but I am too involved with these people and know what this could be, if we all try to stop the negativity. That's the point the OP was trying to make, to reduce this negativity. So no, in this case adapt or quit is toxic.

I agree with this post. I find it frustrating that you can no longer find the vast amount of insight that once appeared on these pages. Sure you can go to other locations of the forums, but it's just easier to go to Reddit or one of the other places that aren't filled to the brim with complaints. It seems the general page has devolved to the comments section on most YouTube pages.

So your saying people shouldn't come here and voice their opinions of updates or sc. So only people who like the updates are allowed to post here now.

No more holps is a sad thing indeed.

The saddest part is that after the flammers and trolls have their fun they will go on to other forums. Those of us still here need to find a balance. Points of view are individual perspectives on the game relating to how each of us want to play the game. There is no reason to attempt to force you opinion onto others, call them names, or insult each other. Forums should be a place for all to express their opinions, ask questions, make suggestions, or hoot (yes that's a bird metafor) over a success. Apparently social media society has gotten so raw and negative that some of you need to be reminded how to behave in public.

And for your information I too struggle with each update or change. I'm not a fan of recent changes until I figure out new ways to succeed. The adapt or quit suggestion is just RUDE. try making suggestions, or asking questions rather than going off half ♥♥♥♥ed. The game is what it is. I just try to find ways to continue to progress while suggesting changes when the walls (damn them over priced and over weighted suckers) become insurmountable. My suggestion is if you cannot try to find ways then ask for direction, if someone asks then actually help. Both sides need to grow better.

I debated whether or not to start another thread for this, but since the original title applied, I chose to say this here. I'm not intending to troll anyone, so please keep that in mind.
The forums are what we make it, to a degree. However, who SC chooses to use as Moderators & GASP's has an affect on the tone here, & they haven't chosen to encourage an objective, respectful dialog. I agree that the childish "I hate SC" posts contribute nothing to forum discussions, however, even well thought out concerns & complaints have been met with equal treatment by those SC chose to promote.
I guess I'm unsure what this forum is for? If it's only for the "things are great" posts, then I apologize for mine. While I enjoy this great game, I don't think it's perfect, & see nothing wrong with talking about what's lacking & can be made better...unless I've got that wrong?

That said, Holps' unique way of voicing his opinion will be sorely missed.

CoC is a ripoff. People notice this. They're going to speak about it here or elsewhere.
