As for the topic, any time I am about to water an unknown's plants I have to consider whether the gain is worth the risk. Yes, I do need to finish this help task but am I going to have a sniper for two weeks? Is it worth the risk?

As I've said, helping a stranger in the DD used to be one of my favorite pastimes. It was a huge part of my gameplay long before NH, the town, fishing, and the derby was introduced. Some of u know how fast I shop and playing the way I do...I'm always seeing bushes and trees that needs to be watered and having the barn size I have, filling a crate is easy as pie. I've even scoured the DD looking for stuff a stranger needs. Follow him, find the stuff he needs, fill his crate then unfollow. Pretty much went out of my way to help a random stranger. Well, I don't do that anymore. It sucks, but whatcha gonna do?
There are so many ways SC can "improve" the system. I say improve because the current system is not perfect. There are ALWAYS room for improvements. Expand that horizon.
1. Remove random strangers from the last helpers tab altogether. Just include friends and followers only.
2. If SC insists on having random strangers be on the tab, reduce it from 2 weeks to 1 day. What's the point of 2 weeks anyways? I see no benefit to the 2 week duration at all. Change the numerical value in the code. It's that simple.
3. Who really cares if "Pls help my boat" or "do not buy from last crate" or someone who I don't know is a recent contributor to an event? Get rid of it. It's pointless.
If SC would do any of those, I guaranteed we'll have more group hugs, rainbows and hearts floating around in this forumHeck, people who aren't currently helping in the DD would even help more. Win/Win.

And the other thing. This happened in our nh. When a member was rude to people and he was booted. But thanks to the last helpers tag he snatched trades and emptied stores.

Tomville, I visited your farm, via the boat leaderboard, just to have a look around.
I behaved myself - took nothing (unless you count the hammer I found in a chest on the ocean).
It was great to see it, but I promise I won't abuse the privilege!

I started a baby farm a few weeks ago while I was waiting for the update (I'm still bummed the town wasn't a part of it). It has its own NH with no neighbours. I'm its only friend and it doesn't follow anyone. I now also delete all followers on this level 30 baby farm and don't help in the DD. It didn't start out like that, but somehow people seemed to latch on to it and raid, and since it's really a supplier farm, that doesn't fit my farming plan. 😜
However, my big farm (level 110) - that one I use to help DD players, and advertise; I've followed the same 6 people for more than a year and have followers some of whom regularly empty my shop. It seems odd (even to me honestly 😄but it is working nicely for me.
Truth is I've been playing less lately. I've even gotten the "your animals miss you" message. That would have been unheard of just 4 weeks ago.😳
So I get both sides of the issue. To each his own I suppose.😊
