I think he was sincere -- he was very low level and he liked to buy coin-intensive decorations for his farm.

With over 5 million coins at that point, he could have a ton of mine, no problem . . . . LOL

I, too, am curious if they would be bothered by the "change". Would it really affect their gameplay? An option to turn on/off, opt in/opt out could also work. Regardless of how it's done, it might be something which could finally put these threads to rest for the very last time.
But -- THEN what would we discuss ad nauseum? LOL

I think the discussion here has been productive and illuminating.

Actually, I find threads like these to be fascinating. People who normally wouldn't post come out of the woodwork to give their 2 cents. We're able to learn words like "kvetch". SC might actually finally realize it's an issue that can no longer be ignored and possibly work on an improvement in the future. What's not to like?

Think of it this way, every major complaint thread i.e. Too much maps in the DD, not enough axes, no diamond confirmation button, derby task log, bots, etc were all discussed to death. SC heard our pleas and finally did something about it. It improved this game for everyone and this game is what it is now because of those improvements. I don't see why this issue would be any different.

    What I was wondering about:
Why can't we visit a farm which buys stuff from our RSS (we see them anyways) but we can visit a farm which helped us? I don't see the big difference. First ones get our stuff, second ones get a voucher. Maybe someone has an idea why these two types are treated differently.

Let's say, someone filled all my boat crates and I want to give a "thank you" in return, I can go to his/her farm and shop or help. When I want to take a glimpse at someones farm who just bought all my thousand red hats (just an example) I filled my RSS with, so I can buy something from him/her as a "thank you", I just can't.

I really like the mentioned idea of SC introducing an opt in/out button for the last helpers tab.

My followING of people changes regularly, since I have so few slots. I follow lower levels while they sell dairy and sugar, and when they stop, I move onto someone else.

My followers don't change much. If someone catches a duct tape, or something similar, I have noticed that they follow for a while, I think just checking to see if they will pick up more of those type items. It seems like if they don't see them hourly, they drop me, lol.

The person I was speaking about, I actually started that relationship when they were really low level, when they were selling dairy and sugar. They followed me right back.

It was like that, until they dropped me from their list. So, I dropped them, too. I have so few slots, it wasn't prudent for me to keep them since they were leveling up.

The next day, they were back following me. And we have been non-speaking-farm-besties ever since, lol.
Here is my similar story of those lovely connections... I was about level 35 and found a farm in DD selling nice things, I followed her and would go visit, help and buy a few more things, help some more etc. She was level 45, this was before neighbourhoods came. A week after I followed her, she followed me back. And we have been visiting each other that way ever since at least once a week, following each other, helping more than buying mostly, with the occasional unnecessary purchase of just the 10 wheat to signal "hey I was here, thinking of you, all the best". I sure cheered when I saw she had made level 100, just after I did. And now she's level mumblety mumble and I am a few ahead, omg we are getting hayday old together, someone park us on the porch together in the sun with a blanket on our knees. Anyhow, purely by accident - as I only ever knew the farm name before - I found her on Facebook 4 months ago, by recognising her profile picture on someone else's page, and learnt her name and where she was from (Elly, Japan!) and friended her there. My own non-speaking-farm-bestie!

Thanks for sharing that! I was hoping to hear more stories like it, that's why I keep checking back, lol.

My Russian friend visited me last night, he bought one of the cream coffee drinks, some cotton and a chocolate bar. It's seems that he was ok with me pretty much cleaning him out of ore yesterday, lol.

As a young farmer, I was helped by another farm slightly above my level. Jam, probably, which was a big problem then. I followed her and we helped each other for over a year. She figured out how to communicate through her farm name, we chatted that way a lot and we even managed to become gc friends and exchange email adresses. Then NHs were introduced; she became co-leader and the NH filled up with (mostly) her and my followers. She was a lot of fun, even before we could chat in the NH. Sadly, she no longer plays, but two of her followers are still an important part of the NH and very popular co-leaders.

Personally, I'm a fan of the last helpers' list. It allows us to form friendships based on the way we play, rather than on the way we talk. Also, not everybody speaks English and can find friends on this forum.

    happy farming
