Yeah this is not a big task....and it vastly increases the clash presence on the net (for a 2-3 day dev/qa effort). All we need is just a simple JSON or XML feed with player stats. The community does all the graft with clash micro sites popping up all over the net. This really is a no brainer, heck I could do it on my lunch.
I created an account just to say how cool this would be. I would be happy with just pulling in some of the current stats from the game. But some clan control calls would be nice as well. For example you could write some code that made someone an elder if their donations were so high for so long. Or even demote them if they didn't meet the requirements. There are all sorts of options here. Another one would be to pull out replays and save them to display on the clan site as the attack of the week or something. That's the great thing about an open API is all sorts of creative people will come up with uses for this that supercell would never think of or care to take the time to do.
We've started building an online presence for our clan to extend communication and strategies and the community spirit.
I'd love to be able to hook into statistics on the clan to be able to automatically display certain information such as clan status, donation counts, trophy counts, placement globally, etc.
If a minimal API could be exposed, this would really allow for some integration between the game and the clan community!!
This has my vote! The question is, how many non-software people are interested in this? Perhaps Supercell would have to write a basic, easy-to-learn, programming language just for beginners. 'Clashscript'

If there was an open api and say only 100 programmers that used it which I am sure there are a ton more then that. And lets say only a hand full of them created something that was for more then just their own clan but for the entire CoC community. Then that means that millions benefit from opening of the api. I myself plan on building a site to allow clans to create a profile on. That is depending on how much the api can do.

Defenseless Accounts Can Be Saved
so that I won't spend a whole 10 minutes just changing my base according to an image! I will be able to just one-click to change or add (if there's a save base feature) bases!!
