Your next event should be a period of time where you double the league loot bonus. This would encourage players to play more and move up, and it could possible help with the cloud issue.
I would imagine encouraging more people to be online makes the clouds even worse, although it wouldn't really have any effect on trophy pushing anyway. They want trophies, not league bonus.
