Wow, who knew? No wonder it's such a hit and miss process. Thanks for the explanation, Becker, I agree with TexasLea that it does deserve being preserved for all to reference, but I also agree with you that it should be easier.

Nick, any chance of improving the search function, please?

    Agreed

That reminds me of another question I have for you, Nick. You asked players here on the forum to use the in game help system to report bot farms they saw and/ or any farms they suspected of using third party software. Why was that request never made to all players through the in game news feature y'all added to our settings?

I find it highly ironic and wonder if you even realized you have actually asked us to report a bot using third party software to a bot using third party software?

    Nick,

I appreciate that you've answered a lot of questions already but I hope you don't mind me leaving this screenshot as an example of what sort of challenge the Last Helpers Tab etc gives us on a regular basis. This is my stall, now, just moments before I am about to flag for help in the DD -- Raided by (no, not by Greg) a name below me on the boat board.

Demoralising enough for me not to bother putting out interesting items. Why would I produce extra stuff just for a stranger on the boat board to buy? Wouldn't it have been nicer for the game at large if the Daily Dirt had got some mallets, land deeds, or just something different to wheat?

I'm flagging my boat still, but the DD will get some wheat instead. Sorry hoodies. Sorry global community.

What is the reason that we can't be afforded some more control over our stalls (be it NH crates/ trading post/ communal barn/ removing some links from event/boat boards)?

ANY help/fix, however small, would really be most welcome.

    Thank you.

Enable diamond confirmation in settings --- but beware: it only works in some places!

Not sure I understand this. The person apparently has an avatar. People on ur friend's list are the only ones who should have an avatar, not someone from the leader board.

I have a boat leaderboard shopper. Their avatar shows in my RSS. They are not gc friends, followers and I have never helped them. I went looking to find out where they came from. Found it!!! That darn leaderboard. We Got the Facebook like feature resolved and I really wish sc would address this issue.

Strangers oftentimes have avatars when buying from me too. I believe it's if their game is linked to Facebook.

Hmmm that's interesting. All the visits I've gotten from the leader board just shows their farm names, no avatar. None of my followers has an avatar either. Then again, I'm not connected to Facebook. Thx for the 411.

My point was that I can not sit here 24/7 answering to same questions over and over.
Nobody's even asking you to. I'm honestly confused why you keep taking this attitude when it's a question that I haven't seen a single explanatory answer to let alone something that's been answered "over and over."

And if it's really that big of a problem then maybe you should think about expanding upon the ruled out list. Color code it or something. Like red = something that's not doable from a technical standpoint, orange = something that would go against HD's game philosophy, yellow = something the devs are happy with and don't want to change, and so forth.

Even this answer doesn't tell me anything more than a ruled out bullet point does. You talked about it and decided to leave it alone. Uh, wow, thanks for that intel. It doesn't tell me if the devs are actually happy with how LH is, if they care that it causes a lot of players a lot of distress, or why even just a time reduction is off the table. Like what specifically about a 2 week timeline do you guys consider ideal? Why do you think discouraging players from helping others is a good idea? Why do you think discouraging players from selling products so they don't get raided is a good idea? WHY did you come to the decision to not do anything about LH at all, that's the question?

So the official answer I guess is that the devs added this feature, clearly didn't anticipate such a mixed reaction to it, have no idea what to do with it since so have decided to brush it under the rug indefinitely.

I know that the winter theme may feel "off" for many players, but keep in mind that in many countries February is actually seen as a winter-month.
Yes it is winter in many parts of the world including where I am in Utah and we get a lot of snow but Christmas Lights still on the houses and it is March right now?

So you have to push an update to turn off the Winter theme?

Tell your programmers to program in Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall into the game and just bring up the graphics depending on the date that is on the device. Then you don't have to push updates for every season.

This should be pretty simple and I am surprised that you have not thought of this yet.

My theory for a long time has been that it was never intended for players to have control over their RSS. The problem is that HD has several systems that conflict with one another.

Expansion materials are sellable but there's no secure trading and EMs are something people are definitely going to want to exchange. OT but it's also why there's such a problem with bots and by extension innocents getting burned. If EMs were bound per player there'd be nothing for bots to farm for and nothing for players to accidentally buy from them. Just saying.

Ads give players a false sense of security because multiple systems allow people to access farms without them being publicly advertised. FB likes, last helpers, boat leaderboard, event leaderboard, and so on. Compare to another game that doesn't have ads and whatever you put in your shop is cycled publicly until everything is sold so there's never any expectation of privacy or control cultivated.

A lot of it is psychological too. You don't sell in something like a public farmers market, the RSS is on YOUR property. It's not even a public road! Who else travels it besides the postman and people in YOUR employ? It makes you feel like it's private property and you're a private seller which leads to feelings of attachment. "It's MY farm, it's MY RSS, they're MY goods, I should be able to control who I sell to."

But the biggest culprit by far might be NHs. They may not have been so bad if they were very large, and I mean LARGE like 500-1000 people, but 30 people is a clique. SC even had the opportunity to enlarge them when the derby was introduced but what happened? Players like their cliques, they voted not to have them bigger. So they've taken literally millions of players and sectioned them off into these very tiny social circles. Nobody should be surprised when natural human behavior is to want to then withhold resources for their cliques rather than provide them to the global community. But the problem is this makes the DD suck so SC now has to keep these other backdoor entries or pretty much every farmer would become a private one.

So if anyone's confused there's good reason, the systems and design of the game itself work against each other and more importantly work against human nature.

I have thought for a long time now that given the situation SC's best bet would be to start treating NHs like guilds are in other games but that's been suggested for at least 2 and a half years to no avail.
