The events themselves have always been fun (except for the miscalculation with not accounting for the time to make cotton as an intermediate product last winter). Could a drag-and-drop event be brought into the regular cycle of events with expansion supplies/tools/diamonds as prizes? They offered a great change of pace to the typical events exactly because no one could know what the requested items were ahead of time.
When they had those type of events, people complained because they emptied their barn for items they could easily get and 5 diamonds was not enough, etc. The forumers wanted decos. I loved those as well and prefer diamonds and tools, but am just not surprised that SC does not want to do them.

But that's not a design problem, it's an expectation problem. If you asked a 30-person 'hood what would make it worth it to empty their barns of an item you'd get 30 different responses. Someone might do it on a dare and another wouldn't do it for hundred of diamonds, and then there's everything in between. Everyone has different opinions of the possible event prizes and they don't work as an incentive. Some people like them, some don't, and some get so angry at missing something they consider 'worth it' that they light up the forums and threaten to quit the game. Every event (or derby or intermediate prize or townie gift or level-up) that offers a unique or difficult to achieve item provides the opportunity for a great hue-and-cry against Supercell (success or failure will both have one group disappointed).

The only way events work is if they're enjoyable in and of themselves. And every opportunity for a new type of event gives players something new to look forward to, to work towards (as a group or separately), to strategize around, and to engage in the game. And the largest possible selection of event types will engage the largest number of players and we can all take our turn being more or less happy about the outcome. So set up a drop event with intermediate prizes and everyone has to decide for themselves when they're done with it. It's how the truck and boat events work now, and there're people complaining about those too. We'll never not have people complaining, either about the prize quality or about the difficulty of an event. But if I'm not engaged in a truck event one week and I choose to fully participate in a boat event the next it's not a design flaw, it's my choice. And it's the choice of every other player out there. My lack of interest in trucks does not come back to a problem with having such an event. If the drop events became a regular event instead of the special event with special prizes they used to be, I imagine we'd see no more or less griping about them than there is about any other event.

Well thought out and sensible post. If the posts in the past had been as well thought out, we would probably still be getting the events. They were not. I agree that if you do not want to do the event, the derby, boat, the "fill in the blank", then don't. Too bad that some feel that the game should be designed to their specific demands and feel that they can be rude and infantile. That said, my point was that I would have given up offering the events after the nastiness and rudeness of the forum if I was SC. SC never said that that was the reason they gave them up. They undoubtedly had different reasons. I would not want someone to come into this thread at this point and think that was SC reply.

If someone is annoyed by a part of the game to the point they are so upset to be rude - then they should not play that part of the game. And they should repeat "it is not all about you". Many of us are not annoyed by it. By all means, suggest changes, offer ideas, note problems. Try to do so intelligently and respectfully.

I hope that we get new events as 00becker suggests. I hope this post is brought to the attention of the developers

And what is a reasonable drop rate and what isn't is subjective. Some players need more town drops, some don't need any at all.

Depending on trends we see we will tweak things here and there, but like Nick mentioned never on a whim.

Since you guided us to other thread, to talk about the issue, I posted there. As you can see being vague and not definitive causes more animosity. Lets finally get a real answer that is clear, fair and realistic to our concerns. Frankly speaking it is viewed as being unrealistic, unfair and detrimental to future of Hayday. That's just my personal opinion which I am entitled too, but sure many share my sentiments here.

Glad I could do my part to get a clear realistic and fair answer for once, I see lack of commitment issues there that need to be resolved.

Thank You that was a test of my sanity and patience. I barely survived it lol.

To leave it reduced for months, even while complaints are stacking up and reports to support are filing in, is ... well, what is that? Please explain.

As is common on the internet, the most vocal people are the ones who are unhappy with something. It's not as common to make tons of threads about something you're satisfied with, but as the quotes show there are people who are satisfied with it.

Should I increase rates and then start getting angry threads from these (and other silently satisfied) people? Game balancing in as complex an economy as Hay Day's is not that black and white that I should run to tweak something because I see people complaining. Everything is a give and take, a gray area of interrelations between items. The players are the most important thing for the game and for the whole team, and we take every piece of feedback seriously (especially negative feedback, since those are the ones that can be acted upon). But it's crucial to understand that vocal players are not necessarily the majority of players, and every string pulled will affect another string elsewhere.

That's all I have to say about game balance and why the TEMs are, were or will be tweaked. If there is any new question on the matter or on any other matter I'm happy to answer.

Are planks rarer than bolts and tapes?
Or can you say that "globally" all barn expansion materials are adjusted to balance out? So there are no global excess of one barn expansion material.

The reason I am asking is, there is a big manuplation over planks, if you ever check trade threads here and on facebook groups, people have started to ask two bolts or tapes for each of their planks. Each trade in those greedy rates adds to make this situation worse, giving those farms where planks rain an unfair advantage as every new trade in those rates will make bolt and tape farms more desperate for planks, and every more trades again will make plank farms open to more abuse of the trade market.

As with every update, you have players who love and hate the new features. I can't say what you guys will think of the next update(s) but it's something the community has been asking for.
It's summer here, so snow in February makes as much sense as snow in December, lol... It's not all about me - the seasons in HD add a charm it would lack otherwise, even if my animals are rugged up while I run the a/c.

This longtime player is looking forward to the update when it comes. But not the forum hints about the preview of the sneak peak of the sneak peeks part of it, lol.
