You have a countdown if you click on the info box in the shield timer area ... gotta keep an eye on that
Your base has to actually be in the MM pool for a specific amount of continuous time (I think it is 15 mins) for PB timer to reset. Jumping off for a few mins and then back on again doesn't do it. Of course it also resets when you get a shield.
