Let me give you the steps:
1- Open app
2- Tap the connect icon on the top left
3- Keep the window with connect button open, minimize app(press homebutton or app switcher)
4- Open clash, change clan type & try tapping connect button until it is connected
If this didn't work please ensure you have a good internet connection for the app to be able to connect to server

The only missing part is waiting for 2 minutes for SC server to update the info. Otherwise all steps are being done the right way. Please try again & press connect after at least 1 minute after you change the type

Please make sure you entered clan tag right by checking clan list/donation list. If nothing appear please clear data & make sure to enter the right tag then try to connect
If there is a bug in this feature then today's update will fix it for sure. Just double checked it
