So, I've got the Barbarian King..

Healer does work on the king, but it doesn't heal him fast enough because he isn't very strong. I just have him at level 1.

Yeah, i have the same problem haha, i just use him as a tank more than anything, healing him seems kind of useless as a healer takes up too many spaces in the camps.

Have any of you, who have the Barb King, got it without spending any gems?

I figure this is possible if you attack enough times on bases with 50-100 dark elixer available. But the only folks I know who have one, used gems.

.....but I say..MEH...for all of the time, effort (even if you want to shorten it up by gem'in)...it's not as strong (lvl 1) as my maxxed out Pekkars...those guys roll and stay hard for a long time, while Kingy goes down fairly quickly

Yeah, but i'm farming at the moment, so he works really well to farm with as i just use lvl 5 archers and nothing else, so when there's tougher camps he comes in quite handy!

I don't know but i got attacked by lvl 66. Im lvl 37. He/she use only lvl 5 Bar-King (yes lvl 5) and lvl 4 Queen, 3x lvl 3 dragons. clean me out with my max deff TW 7 of lvl 6 all guns and archer tower and lvl 3 motars . My base is walls then guns walls then storages walls and motar in center. all around no gaps or open walls .

I wonder how much it cost for those Heros to get to that lvl .

I'm not sure exactly, but to upgrade the king from level 1 to level 2 it costs 12.5k dark elixir which is a lot, if you look at some of the top players they have level 30 on both of their hero's.

Everyone who thinks b king is good for tanking is tripping... When the king has fought he doesnt recover for a fixed time, he recovers his lost hp. If you use him as a tank you most likely will kill him and wait for the full 240min at lvl 1. But if you use him as cleanup, after giants, and he doesnt lose any hp, he's ready to again instantly. Ofc if its your last attack of the night, go nuts

To be honest, i only use him on myblast attack of the night or day or whatever, so it doesn't bother me if he loses his hp and i have to wait the 240 minutes or not :P
